FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS™ | July 2 | A Mini Wedding Dress, DIY Wedding Invites, Cake Flags, Succulent Love, a White Cake with a Red Heart Center…

Happy Friday, everybody!  How’s it goin’ m’friends?

You guys.  You know that MacBook Pro I bought expressly for the purpose of working outside and moving about in the world?  Well guess what?  I wrote this post on my iMac.  Sitting at my desk.  Staring at people who were outside on their MacBook Pros.  Yep.  And my MackBook Pro?  It was sitting in its box, with its 17″ screen, and its 10 hours of battery life.  Just sitting there, its only wish to melt my thighs with its scalding base.  (Those motherboards get far-too-hot-far-too-fast… for serious.  After an hour, I feel like I’ve been through one of those cellulite smoothing sessions you see on Dr. 90210 or that Tyra Banks show.  But, unfortunately, I don’t need cellulite smoothing on the fronts of my thighs, so lose-lose.)  Anywho!  I don’t regret my purchase whatsoever.  I LOVE MY MACBOOK PRO, like everyone else.  By the way, yes, I went crazy and got the 17 incher, as you’ve likely noted.  It’s like carrying around a small, overweight child.  I could seesaw with this thing, and I think the weight distribution would be evenly matched.  It’s kind of crazy.  When I look at my MacBook Pro, I laugh, because it is so freaking BIG.  It’s HUUUUUGE.  It’s a laptop, but truly, looks are deceiving.  I’m going to start working out so I can carry it around with me.  Ok, on to the Fab Finds!!!  (:

See that amazing amazingness up top?  OB.SESSED.  I am absolutely OBSESSED with that succulent bouquet (which I found on Pretty Chicky).  No surprises there.  Here’s a little more where that came from:

So, umm, this next find has absolutely nothing to do with weddings.  But it has a couple of the qualities I love in life: serious color, and a very strong, almost palpable, adorable factor…

No, they aren’t wedding invitations.  Because that would be ridiculous… unless you’re a child bride.  Which, if you are, please write me so I can arrest your suitor – thanks.  Anyway – they’re kids party invitations!  I spotted them on the oh so beautiful, Oh So Beautiful Paper.  {Photographed by Nicole Hill Gerulat for One Charming Party.}

Ok, I have a MAJOR CRUSH on this cake, which I saw on Rock ‘N Roll Bride.  How PERFECT is that heart.  Seriously… it’s the most perfect red heart inside of a mini cake I’ve ever seen, ever.  I can’t believe how perfect it is.  And rich.

Check out these DIY Kraft Paper + Baker’s Twine Save the Dates, designed and created by the ever so talented Ashley of the chic line.

They’re for her July wedding, which fast approaches.  HOW AWESOME ARE THESE INVITATIONS, DIY brides?  You know I love kraft paper, and you know I obsess over baker’s twine.  So I’m kind of climaxing right now.

Ok, I am in LOVE with this mini-dress I spotted on the ever-inspiring Style Me Pretty.  How hard she rockin’ that?  And by the way, if you check the gallery, there’s a bit of a very tasteful boudoir shoot within this wedding.  Two birds, one stone!  Way to work the system, missy!  I love a budget-savvy bride.  (;

As an aside, before I send you off into the world for your July Fourth holiday – I’ve noticed a lot of you have been complaining of headaches.  Like, a LOT of you.  Well, I’ve got the remedy for your occasional run-o-the-mill head pains… ready?  FOOT RUBS.  If you have someone in your life who can give you a foot rub (and who won’t half-ass it, because pressure matters), then make it happen.  It clears my occasional headaches right up.  Foot rubs are like best thing ever, headache or not.  Bring ‘em into your life.  Or go to a spa for a “reflexology” massage (fancy name for a foot rub).  Sooooooo worth it, people.  If you’ve never experienced it, you don’t know what you’re missing.  Oh, and not to worry if you’re ticklish – I’m queen of the easily tickled – something of which the boy is painfully aware – but when I’m getting my foot rub on, no tickles.  Tickle-free!  It’s like you’re in a different zone.  So make it happen, peoples.  And if he’s resistant?  Pull the “if you love me” card.  Yeah, I just went there.  The boy once ate a spoonful of wasabi to prove his love.  It excited me in the moment, but IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS, I felt HORRRRIIIIBLE, especially when he became speechless and I saw the tears begin to well up in his eyes.  Yeah, that was a one-time thing.

Ok, soooo… what do you think of the finds, today?  Favorites?  Lemme know!

xoxo!  -Alison

    I couldn't agree more about MacBook Pro's getting hottttt! Every day, as I'm sitting typing away, I inevitably find my thighs are starting to sweat. It's really unpleasant, but that's what I get for not using a desk!

    I am so glad you commented to me on Twitter because it led me to your blog! Your blog is super fun to read and I'm completely smitten! It is so important to write in your own voice. I feel like I know you. BTW, your MacBook Pro spiel is undoubtedly my fave part of this post!

    Okay, so aside from all this eye candy gorgeousness, you seriously made me LOL. Like, more than once. You are hilarious! Plus, if I were a child bride, I would totally want invites like that. But alas, I missed that deadline by, oh, twenty years.

    And how did they make a heart in the cake like that?! I want to stare in awe at it. Then eat it. Then probably eat another slice, because it looks *that* good.

    Thank you, Tami! You are too sweet, truly! I appreciate your kind words like crazy. One day hopefully we will ACTUALLY know one another, and I won't just write effectively enough to make it seem that way. ;) So so so glad you likey! You rule as well, my dear. Tremendously. xoxo!

    Damn, girl you crack me up – another best of The Knotty Bride quotes (I'm gonna need to start a wall or something)…”Because that would be ridiculous… unless you’re a child bride. Which, if you are, please write me so I can arrest your suitor – thanks.”
    Happy 4th! xo

    Oh no you DIDN'T just issue me a cake challenge. For my first cake challenge, me thinks this is the most insanely difficult cake possible. But somehow, some way, some day hopefully soon, I'll take your challenge. Though I have to admit… I'm really scared.

    The cake challenge has been accepted!

    Now. Lets just plan a date to make it and I will drop on by to help out.

    And when I say help out, I really just mean ‘eat all the leftovers’.

    Cause its yummy.

    Just sayin.’

    Amanda :)

    P.S. Me thinks that you are one of those amazing women who sets her mind upon something and achieves it… so I have *no doubt* that you will be able to make this little cake, *and* do it beautifully. :)
