FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS™ | August 6 | OMG I LOVE THESE DRESSES, these ruffled heels are rad, here’s a free monogram crest, succulents, mason jars and my brother is going to be a gorilla for the rest of his life.

Ok, so my sweetheart and I have another salsa lesson tonight and I think it’s safe to say that we’re overconfident.  Let me explain: I don’t know who caught the finale of Bethenny Getting Married last night, but you know how her therapist said something like – and I’m paraphrasing here – “Bethenny, you’ve shown remarkable growth, you’ve discovered things about yourself much faster than expected, and I’m quite impressed.”  Ok that wasn’t even close to verbatim so I shouldn’t have quoted but whatevs.  I’m TERRIBLE at recalling televised dialogue.  Getting to my point: does her therapist mean it?  This is no judgment on Bethenny, I freaking ADORE THAT WOMAN AND EVERYTHING FOR WHICH SHE STANDS.  I’m just pulling from last night’s episode for comparative purposes.  Does her therapist really think she’s grown considerably, or is he just saying that because he wants to build her up, so she’ll continue to grow into a more self-actualized version of herself?  Here’s how this non-wedding related gibberish relates to me: is our dance instructor buttering us up?  She seems honest and serious-no, she definitely is, but we can’t tell if she’s just complimenting to encourage our growth, or if it’s for real, and we’re just that rare breed of whitebread who can shake it proper.  Like this girl.  … This question has taken up about 37% of our conversations this week, which means it made it to the blog.  So there you go.

In other completely unrelated news, my brother found an amazing gorilla costume last year the day of Halloween.  In the wake of last Halloween’s triumphant costume success, he’s decided to go FULL gorilla the rest of his life.  I guess he’s been pondering his options – because, just how far can you go with gorilla, right?  Well, he told me yesterday that he’s going to dress as a gorilla guerilla this October.  Halloween after that?  Male Nurse Gorilla.  (He’s already asked our Mom to steal some scrubs from her hospital.)  By the way, one thing my little brother is, is committed.  This is going to happen, and it’s going to happen every year.

So… any suggestions for him?  I’ll be sure to relay your ideas.  (:

Ok, on to the Fab Finds!

You like that hot minimally-backed little number up top, don’t you.  Yeah, I think you do.  (Unless you don’t.)  Well it’s from LuLu*s and it’s called the Right Back at You Dress and it’s pretty my much favorite dress this week.  Here, take a better look:

And another, because I am OBSESSED with this thing:

Yes.  I bought it.

Now, CHECK.  OUT.  THIS.  HEEL.

It’s another from LuLu*s, and it’s a stunner.  A ruffled in-your-face stiletto that has rendered my pupils dilated.  And it’s faux suede, so we’re cool.

They’re almost teetering on ridiculous, and if I wore the things I’d be teetering on them, but I’m going to call it and say they’re just pushing the limits of awesome.

This next one, called On the Griddle Dress in Chocolate Chip is pretty much my favorite choice this week for a bridesmaid dress.  (All sizes still available as of this post going up!)

Ok, leaving the fashion faves behind for a while…

I’m lovin’ all over photographer Sarah Yates‘ sweet, sweet table design shots, which were shared on Para ti Novia’s Bridesmaids Shower Inspiration: Casual California Chic.

Yes, I like them because of the succulent factor.  And yes, you’re almost guaranteed a Fab Find position if succulents are involved.  (Please, don’t everyone email me every succulent you’ve ever photographed ever.  Unless it’s awesome, of course.  Especially if it’s a succulent wedding.  Totally email me that.)

I love these mason jars, too, though.  They remind me of the sun jars my honey made.  Remember that?  Meeeeeeeemories, light the corners of my mind.  Misty water-colored meeeeeeeemorieeeeees, of the way, we [are].  (:  WHOA that was saptastic.  Please ignore.

You know what rules?  Free downloadable crest monograms.

This one’s by MaeMae Paperie and you can download it here.  Just look what you can do with it!

Thank you, Wedding Chicks, for always bringing the freebies forth!

I also seriously adore this Bakery Engagement Session I found on Style Me Pretty.  It was photographed by one of the reigning queens of photography, Elizabeth Messina, which means it’s guaranteed amazing.  It took place at the Solvang Bakery in SoCal and it features Gina and Don, who are getting married this October.  But more importantly OMG LOOK AT THOSE CUPCAKES.

AND THIS ADORABLE SIGN!

AND THIS CAKE!

I’ve been coveting these Floral Heart Pegs for like 8 months now.

I should probably buy them already.  But how do you buy something in bulk when you don’t know how much bulk you need to buy?  Obviously I’m nowhere near ready to make this purchase, but you are quite welcomed to.  In fact, I encourage it.  I can imagine so many ways to use this on your wedding day.  So.  Many.  Escort card decor.  You can attach menus to napkins on your guests’ dinner plates.  You can somehow clip table number cards to centerpieces.  As a cute accent on your bouquet at the stem.  People, the list goes on.

Aright, that about wraps up the Finds today!  Tell me, what are your faves of my faves?

xoxo!  – Alison

love the dress and all of your heel choices in general : )

now, for your brother … how about a gorilla farmer? i think this whole gorilla costume idea is genius. usually people would dress their regular selves up as a male nurse, or farmer, or cowboy, etc … but having a gorilla underneath all of that – totally brill.
