DIY LOVE | THIS WEEK’S UNIQUE DETAILS WEDDING | Plus, when it comes to defending your honor, does your man choose fight or flight?

This darling wedding, shot by the very talented husband and wife team of Brooke Courtney Photography, completely captured my heart, and for a very specific reason.  You see, sweetie and I - I’m gonna tell ‘em, honey – we… well, we love bears.  … You know how people sometimes adopt an animal of some sort to represent the family?  Well, for us it’s bears.  And just today I looked it up and found out that the bear represents strength, cunning and ferocity in the protection of one’s kindred.  Hmm.  Well, that kinda scares me, specifically the ferocity, but I think we’d like to feel confident that the below would happen if the below, well, happened:

So, when mine eyes had seen the glory of this wedding I’m sharing with you today, I got really, really excited, like eyebrows up, lower jaw down in unison excited, and knew it would be Monday’s post.  Just wait ’til you see how animal-rific this wedding is.  It’s totally not tacky at ALL.

By the by, Brooke met Tiffany while working at Hollister years back, which made me smile because, even though it’s pretty ridiculous of me, I recently discovered Hollister and find it to be one of the best sources of summertime beach clothing known to man.  Before you judge, have you been in one of their stores?  Have you felt their cotton shirts?  Have you?  Because they are quite possibly the most pleasurable cotton texture in the entire world.  Seriously.  In fact, I’m wearing one of their cute, slim-fit sweatshirts right now, and I’m incredibly comfortable.  They’re like, mood-changing comfortable.  Trust.

ANYWHO, when Tiffany contacted Brooke months ago about photographing her wedding, Brooke couldn’t have been more touched and thrilled.  And the wedding, as you’ll see, turned out magically.  Here are a few details, courtesy of Brooke:

Tiffany and Alex tied the knot in Darlington (really? how cute is that?), Maryland, at her Uncle’s house/farm. Tiffany made everything herself. The escort cards, centerpieces, table settings and the dozens of paper cranes hanging from the trees at the ceremony. Truly DIY. And fully fabulous.

There it is!  Right there, above, is what got me.  Need a close up?

See it now?  She’s wearing a BEAR MASK.  Didn’t expect that out of her, did you?  Honestly, I didn’t either.  And it’s why I love Tiffany.  And her monkey-mask wearing hubby.  Playfulness points awarded to this fabulous(ly attractive) couple.

So, what are you’re thoughts on this wedding?  And have you chosen, or are you thinking about choosing, an animal to represent your little clan?  Or is all of this animal talk sounding insane to you?  (And if that’s the case, then let it be known that t’was not I who thought up this bear thing:)

xoxo!  – Alison

I wouldn’t have expected a number of those elements to go together but by God they do, and beautifully too. Yes, I love the animal masks, I also love the romantic color palette and little bits of clean rustic beauty and shabby chic grace. Awesome find!
