SHORT WHITE DRESS | The bride wore braids and light white lace… | Erdem Spring 2011 RTW

I like coffee.  (I know, big news!)  I drink half-caff every morning, and that’s it.  I try to stay away from the strong stuff – it makes me want to cage fight a puma.  but I definitely like the difference that a cup of half-caff makes in my day.  My guy, on the other hand, happens to be one of those few creatures on this Earth who doesn’t need or like the stuff; he just runs on pure – well, I don’t even know.  He certainly doesn’t get enough sleep every night (wink wink nudge nudge), and he works HARD (that wasn’t part of the wink wink nudge nudge so don’t get any ideas).  So I really don’t understand where he gets the stamina (ok, SHUT UP).

But, for me, there definitely are times when I don’t need a jolt of caffeine to feel alive and ready to tackle the day with a smile ear-to-ear.

This is one of those times.  Behold, a selection from the Erdem Spring 2011 RTW Collection from fashion week.  I can trust Erdem to bring to life the most feminine designs made of some of the most gorgeous fabrics I’ve ever seen.  I love a designer who creates for the female form.  (You’d be surprised how many don’t!)

Here’s some more from the collection; I have a love affair with the details going on below – not the hugest fan of the overall looks, but the details have a hold on me…

Not everybody’s a fan of lace, and I’m not always on board either.  Some lace looks are downright trashy.  Though I do love this Lacey number:

Anyway… the thing is, when lace is done right, it can be the softest, sweetest, most ethereal look outside of heaven.  And Erdem, in my opinion, has done it right.

* * *

And, as if that wasn’t enough eye candy for the day…

I also happen to be a lover of anything and everything braided.  And the style below is how I’d prefer to wear my hair everyday, if wearing your hair in a crown of braids on a daily basis wasn’t so hugely ridic.

Would you wear/are you wearing lace in any form on your wedding day?  And have you thought about how you’d like to wear your hair?

Love all of this...

Gorgeous! I love lace, despite the fact I’m an anti-girly girl. You’re right-it’s soft and brings just a touch of romance as opposed to a princess. That braided hair is so cute. But I’d probably just strangle myself if I had to do it without help.

This is indeed lace done right. Because it can be done SOO wrong! Paired with a loose braid, the look is so fun and soft.

Gorgeous! The dress and the hair…I wore Monique Lhuillier on my wedding day and the dress had a silk lining and the entire dress was lace! I loved it…with the lining being tan it just blended with the natural tan I was born with it worked perfect! Lace is beautiful when it’s done right…which usually means expensive

I love lace. My dress is actually a classy lace, I hope! Now you have me nervous, I didn’t realize lace could be trashy. And I LOVE those dresses. In addition, Kyle does not need/or particularly like coffee. I think it is crazy bc I love/need it everyday.

yep like everyone else, I love lace when it’s done right… and these dresses are too sweet! And I would totally rock a braid if it suited me. It doesnt!

I love french braids! I think it’s an often overlooked classy hair style. I do my hair like this (in a french braid, NOT as well as the pics here) at least 4 times a week, as opposed to a pony tail. Great option for brides. :^)

I love the combination of short dress and lace, it really modernises the lace! Wish I had the legs for it when I got married :))

NEVER thought I’d wear a lace wedding dress…and mine is ENTIRELY lace, top to toe. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Check it out, Nora, from Priscilla of Boston’s vineyard collection. I got my swatch in the mail the other day and literally couldn’t stop petting it for an hour. The lace is handmade in France apparently, which makes me so incredibly happy, and pretty sure it’s not trashy lace. There are no other emblishments, just pure pretty amazing lace, over a liner that is a little tiny bit lighter than the lace, so it makes it really pop.

    Now I’ve written a novel…sorry!

I have always loved braids. They are my favorite way to put up my hair. Loving the lace dresses. The first one is awesome. I love the large floral pattern to dress.

I did the big side braid for my wedding! most people thought I was crazy until they saw it. I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out, and it was true to my young farmgal roots in which 95% of my youth was spent in 2 heidi-esque french braids.
