REAL BOUDOIR™ | chic hotness | This session single-handedly makes me want to strip down and do my own boudoir session.

↑ Yeah.  I KNOW. ↑

More on the loveliness above in a jiff.  We’re starting with a fun, completely unrelated little lesson before we get into the amazing topic at hand today:

I learned something yesterday that I totes feel like an idiot for not realizing:

Hard shell crabs and soft shell crabs are actually the same.  When we eat soft shell crabs, we are actually eating crabs that have just recently shed their shells, aka are molting, and their new shells are nice and tender… as well as easily cracked.  The more you know.

Wanna know how I know that?  Because my lovely friend Nichole came to visit from Maryland last night for a quick sleepover, middle-school-style, and she brought a gigantic box of Maryland blue crabs with her for dinner!  So awesome.  We all ate outside (on what is shaping up to have been the last pleasant evening, weather-wise, of the season) and we got crab EVERYWHERE.  I cracked one claw and a spike hit me square in the eyeLID at lightening fast speed.  I can’t tell you how thankful I was for the lid to have been there.  Thank you, eyelid, for deciding to wet my eyeball at the very moment in time.  As you can tell, we were out of control, but we anticipated it being messy, which is why we put down a huge roll of the art paper we roll out when my six year old niece comes to visit (she’s very, very artsy and I like to encourage it by providing her with a massive, floor-bound canvas).  We came to realize THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO EAT HARD SHELL CRABS.  So, word to the wise.

Anyway, Nichole and I were discussing the taste of blue crabs (I swear this has nothing to do with boudoir, don’t go there) when she said the following:

“I prefer the taste of males as opposed to females.”

She was obviously talking about male crabs vs. female crabs (seriously, stop going there you guys), but OMGITWASHILARIOUS.  Like, Nick Cannon hi-LAAAR-ious.  Especially since I’M the one who usually drops the accidental innuendo.  (By the way, that’s the truth.  Pretty much all of the innuendo you experience throughout this blog just rooolllls off my tongue, and I tend to realize immediately afterward how charged what I’ve written actually is.  Scout’s honor.  And it’s inherited.  So, thanks Mom, for that.)

Moving right along!

Today’s boudoir shoot is REDONK.  It’s so good, so tasteful, so avant-garde, so beautifully photographed, and features such a gorgeous little lady that I just know you’re going to be blown away.  The genius behind the lens is none other than Jenna Kageyama of Flutter Glass Photography, and I’m absolutely in awe of the shoot she and the gorgeous Miss M accomplished on that sexy, sexy day…

I’m sure you can already tell that Jenna knows exactly what she’s doing, when it comes to boudoir photography.  She’s got the lighting, the angles, the poses ALL DOWN, and that’s so important to have in a boudoir photographer.

Jenna filled me in on the brilliant setting from today’s shoot:

We did the shoot in Emilia’s home and used that for inspiration, and brought in some vintage romance by highlighting some items she had in her home: record collection, vintage lace curtains, and some other items she had. We made a book and she gave the photos to her husband-to-be as a wedding gift!

Oh how I LOVE the concept of doing a shoot in your very own home!

Here are some words from our gorgeous bride.  I imagine she’s not very different from all you out there who are considering doing a boudoir shoot, but are a little freaked out about it…

I had always wanted to get up the nerve to take some boudoir photos.  It was something that I wanted to do not just for my fiance (now husband) but also for me as a way to feel more comfortable with my body and in front of a camera.  I don’t think I could have dropped trou for just anyone though.  I was lucky that my good friend Jenna is also a stellar photographer.  I knew that we would be goofy and have a good time instead of feeling embarrassed and awkward.  Of course, the bottle of champagne helped!  Jenna is really great at putting people at ease.  She didn’t make me feel uncomfortable in the least bit and after just a short time I was feeling more sure of myself in front of the camera.

I wanted to keep it personal so we stayed in our apartment.  I was so happy we got to incorporate some of our records. My husband is into lingerie and all but I know he really digs it when I wear his clothes so I wore a couple of his shirts (and little else).  I rocked a couple of lacy things too.   And, of course, nothing is hotter than nothing at all so I got brave and bared it all.

My husband went out of town for his bachelor party and I wanted to surprise him with the photos before he left (just so he wouldn’t have any problem remembering me).  He was happily surprised by the gift and stealthily tucked it into his suitcase.

The shoot and the results were quite liberating for me and I definitely feel more secure in my own skin since doing it.

I adore these shots.  She looks exquisitely feminine, and the lace overlay ads such mystique.  The creativity of this shoot is mesmerizing.

Clearly, Miss M had no reason to be nervous.  But that’s to be expected, and it’s precisely the reason boudoir photographers so often hand you a glass of champey to ease your nerves and let loose.  Honey, you nailed it.  Bravissimo!

So, are you blown away, or are you blown away?  And does this shoot inspire you to do your own?  One more thing: HOW INCREDIBLE DOES SHE LOOK?!!

xoxo!  – Alison

This makes me want to do my own boudoir shoot so badly. Those b&w photos are beautiful, as are the ones where she’s hiding behind a lace curtain!! I’ve never seen this before in a boudoir shoot.

Way to go; you’ve made a disgustingly gorgeous woman look even more radiant.

I’ve got two good words to describe this shoot: “Hubba” & “Hubba.”

I love this shoot – it’s so stylish, not too sexalicious and over the top like some are. If I do a shoot it’ll definitely be more this style. This is really great inspiration for a different kind of boudoir shoot.

Absolutely gorgeous. Now if only I had her smokin’ figure, I’d do my own. I’m so inspired by those brave enough to take such amazing shots.
