SPECTACULAR WEDDING DRESSES I HEART | Short rufflies and long flowies…

More on these in a moment…

As you all know, I’m back from Maui and HAAATING IT.  I feel like I’ve been drop-kicked back into the daily grind and it’s absolutely miserable.  Kidding, completely kidding.  Especially since it’s not so much of a grind as it is a welcomed return to gushing about weddings and dresses and details and pretty much everything girly.  If you follow the blog and you went to high school with me, I realize how shocked you are right now that I wrote that.  But people change, human skin sloughs off every seven years or something like that, hormones peak and wane, and I’m… well, I’m a bit girlier now.  I’ve even become somewhat of a shopper – I KNOW, I KNOW – Alison?  But yeah, for real, this is me now.  To be clear, it’s more like I’ve augmented the actual me, by adding an unsolicited but highly enjoyable girly layer to the athlete-mathlete you know and love.  Sooooo I’ve pretty much become my sister.  Wow, I just realized that.  How interesting!  For me – how interesting for me.  For everyone else this is a total bore ok I’m getting back on track now.

DRESSES!

More on that one soon, too!

We all know them, and pretty much all of us love them.  I’m totally generalizing, but whatevs, it’s true.  See that set of three shorties by Marchesa up top?  Grace, one of my lovely guest bloggers of recent featured them, and they’re great examples of the kinds of dresses that make me go gaga when I see them.  I dream of wearing them.  You can almost taste how sexy you’d feel inside of one, you know?  Almost taste it.  And once it hits your lips…. oohhhhh.  Ok, enough of that.

Dresses rule; I am a firm believer in the idea that a dress can make you feel gorgeous, if you’re wearing the right one.  And as a girl who has studied psychology for years, it’s a serious thing to state that something can make you feel a certain way.  We’re taught that only you can make yourself feel a certain way.  So it’s quite a departure for me to declare that an item of clothing can overtake the inertia of personal emotion.  But, on a certain night, in a certain frock, that’s exactly what I’m saying.  Ok?  Awesome.

The important thing to consider here is that it’s really up to the person wearing the clothes.  A dress is an emotion-changer ONLY if the person wearing it feels like a million bucks in it.  And we all have differing tastes when it comes to fashion.  I have a feeling many of you are with me when it comes to the choices I make – especially given the fact that I’ve single-handedly sold out entire stocks of frocks in the past, after posting them here.  So I feel pretty confident that the following looks are game-changers for you guys… and who knows… one of them might be quite the perfect style for your wedding day.  Check it:

What do you think of these lil numbers?  Are you/would you like to wear a short dress or full length gown on your wedding day?  Or what did you wear, and how do you feel about your taste now?

xoxo!  – Alison

I LOVE black dresses. If i was bold/sassy/unconventional enough I would so rock one down the aisle. Maybe in my second life? I think they break the mold in all the right places and are insanely sexy. Great finds Alison, I loved your guests posts (of course, b/c those ladies ROCK) but it’s good to have you back!

So glad you posted this! I’m going untraditional and having a big giant party after sorta-elopement, and I can’t wait to shop for cute short dresses! Love all the ones you’ve picked! Marchesa is probably my top favorite of designers for cute dresses. LOVE!

I wore a long dress even though I really wanted to wear a knee length number just like my mamma did… To this day I regret it! Girls PLEASE go with your heart! :) xx

I wore tea length. But if I could go back and do it again, I’d love a dress like that black swiss dot KEveza or the Amsale. GORGEOUS.

Where’d you stay in Maui? I just got back from there myself. (Grand Wailea. We did a “honeymoon part 2.” It was RAD.

I love those short dresses, but it wouldn’t be a wedding day for me if I didn’t have a long, full dress. And black?! There’s no way I’m sassy enough for that!

This is the first time I have been on Knotty Bride all week! WTF?! I have been busy but none the less I am devastated by my lack of Knottiness. I did love your guest posts but well they don’t compare. I need Knotty in my life. Thank you for coming back, even if it sucks for you.
