As promised, I give you the story of the infamous, if short-lived, encounter between my fiancé and one Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress. And, since this has everything to do with Bridal Market, I’m assigning this post double duty by peppering in my short wedding dress round-up throughout the story! Hoorah!
So, I brought the ol’ fiancé as my plus one to the Martha bridal market party last Monday night. Why? I wanted him to get a better taste of what my life is like. Now, why I thought a celebration of fashion was the best intro for a male into my wild wedding blogger lifestyle is still a mystery to me. While he spent a stint at a large fashion company (in an area completely unrelated to fashion, but still), and happens to have quite the keen sense of style, a party created expressly to celebrate bridal fashion and all things wedding-related is not the first place a guy who loves football wants to spend his Monday night.
However, I count myself among those lucky enough to have a man who supports me in whatever I do. And for that I’m extremely thankful. But… it doesn’t mean he’s going to sit still and thrill over talking about pretty things all night. ;)

Ok, you’ve been waiting long enough (and you probably think this story is way more interesting than it actually is, so… uhh… apologies if it crashes and burns on the attention-holding scale…).
Here’s how it all went down:
Me: Hey babe, do you know that fashion guru guy on Say Yes to the Dress?
Him: What’s “Say Yes to the Dress?” Kidding, I know of the show, but that’s it.
Me: Well I just want to point out that that’s Randy Fenoli right there.
Him: Oh, uhh, ok. (No interest.)
Him: (something’s stirring…) Wait… which one again? That guy, behind me?
Me: Yeah… wait, wh… babe…. BABE…
He turns around, STOPS RANDY IN HIS TRACKS, shakes his hand and says, “RANDY! I’m a true fan! You, my friend, are the man with all the answers!”
Randy smiles big and graciously – a class act (I can’t believe I just described someone as a ‘class act’) – expresses his appreciation for the accolades, then quickly and feverishly searches for his friends who are all around him and cleanly exits. Fiancé, a feeling of accomplishment rushing over him, returns to me.
Me: What did you just do?
Him: I told him he’s the man with the all the answers.
Interestingly, I consider Randy to, in fact, be, the man with all the answers, so this was coincidentally very accurate and fortunately quite the perfect thing to say. Well done, dear. But still, it warranted this:
Him: I’m happy to be here for you, but honey, I’ve gotta make this interesting for me, too.

As you can see, he likes to mix things up. And it’s a big part of why he’s a great date, even for a fashion-centric gala. It’s not possible for anything to be boring when he’s around… I’m sure you remember the last time the fiancé got involved in the biz… I’m also sure he’d like to forget about it, but there’s no way I’m letting that one get buried. (Sorry, baby! But not really!)
You didn’t think I was done yet, did you? MORE DRESSES!

So tell me, would you rock a short frock down the aisle? What are your thoughts on the idea?
