REAL WEDDING | Allison + John | Stunningly Chic Hotel Wedding in the Windy City by Amanda Wilcher

I am so excited to bring you this wedding.  There are just so many things I love about it, I hardly know where to start.  First off, the bride’s name is Allison.  So I love her already, obvsNext, the whole thing was shot by the beyond talented Amanda Wilcher, so it’s essentially guaranteed amazeballs.  Third, this wedding is a peonyfest and, if you know me at ALL, you know that I’m very much into peonies, so I can’t complain there.  Fourth, wait until you find out which song Allison chose for her father-daughter dance.  Now, last but not least, and perhaps more importantly than any other detail mentioned today (I know, WHOA)… I just adore how incredibly fun this wedding looks like it must have been!  In fact, I have no doubt it was a fabulously happy affair, given the smiles I can see on everyone’s faces – and they’re the genuine kinds; not the forced kinds, which makes a big difference in photos.  The color palette of champagne, pink, pink and a little more pink is an absolute plus, too – it’s done so tastefully.  Aaaaand it doesn’t hurt that Allison happens to be breathtakingly gorgeous.

P.S. – My shoe lovers out there are going to LOVE what she’s got on her feetsies… a pair of the pinkest, sparkliest, HOTTEST looking Christian Louboutins you. have. evuh. seeeeeen.  Seriously, they are en fuego.

Ohh!  I almost forgot; this couple loves their dog SO MUCH that he makes an appearance in quite a few places you’ve probably never even considered putting your dog while planning your wedding!  So be sure to keep an eye out for that cuteness!

A few words about her Big Day from our bride, Allison:

Our wedding day was everything I ever dreamed it would be.  We were surrounded by the best family and friends two people could ever ask for. The day started off with the girls getting ready at the Sofitel Chicago.  John sent up flowers and a wonderful breakfast for us.  I couldn’t wait to put on my wedding dress but I especially couldn’t wait to put on my pink Christian Louboutin shoes!! (My favorite accessory) We had a champagne toast to celebrate the start to a great day and went off to meet the guys!  John and I had our “first meeting” where he proposed almost a year before.  That moment when we saw each other will never be forgotten, mostly because John cried and he never cries.  We then went and took pictures all around Chicago because we love our city and wanted it captured on our wedding day.  Our ceremony was outside and even though it had been sunny all day, right as our pastor announced to kiss the bride, it started raining!!  GOOD LUCK!  We couldn’t believe it.  Our reception was perfect.  I wanted it very classy and elegant with a hint of PARTY (hence the pink).  And since our beloved PUG Olivia could not be there with us, she was there in spirit as the table cards and place settings.  My sister, my best friend gave the best MOH speech and it was hilarious; she and I are truly “2 bodies with 1 soul”.  We then danced the night away starting with the father/daughter dance to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance.”  That got the PARTY started and it didn’t stop until the horse and carriage took us away for a tour of the city.  It was a beautiful day filled with so much love we could have burst.

My color palette was like a darker champagne color and white, with deep pink accents.  I didn’t want to overdo it on the pink.  The bridesmaid’s dresses were J.Crew and the color was called Fawn.  I used mostly peonies, calla lilies, roses and orchids.

My advice to other brides is don’t sweat the small stuff, it will all come together and work out.  And even if it doesn’t no one else will notice!  Just take it all in and don’t forget to PARTY ON!

This is one of my favorite images from their wedding day.  Can you stand it?  Can you stand the raw emotion of this moment?!!  This is what it’s all about… it’s so important not to forget that.

So, my friends, tell me… what’s your favorite part of Allison and John’s wedding?  Mine happens to be the pug.  Yup, the pug beat out the peonies. :)

One more thing: get psyched – it’s now officially THE WEEKEND!

High kick, woot!

xoxo!  – Alison

Other than the amazing pug doggie, I love the bridesmaid dresses, the color and style {and pockets} are fabulous and they look great with the pink shoes. I’m all about that pop of color. I’ve officially decided with this post that for my best friend’s wedding in September, where I’m the maid of honor, I’m wearing glitter heels…it’s official, it’s happening!

That pug is the CUTEST. Love the innovative way they got him involved. Also, great colors – similar to what we’re doing for our wedding!

This wedding is GORGEOUS, but I love how genuine it is! Totally agree with you about the smiles. I love how the couple incorporated their pug into the day, too, because I would do the SAME THING!

I was really impressed to see that the bride wore red shoes. I am used to white shoes..but I like the idea.
