My sister and her family are in town for the holidays, and that means a lot of fort building and high tea. Which is awesome, but has a way of making me feel extra guilty about working all day, with them staring at me, longing for a few extra hours of playtime. They do that; they stare at me, not trying to make me feel guilty – I take care of that delusional thinking on my own – but they are definitely baffled as to what could possibly possess me to stay seated at a computer when they are right there, right in front of me, ready to make fun things happen with mere pillows, if only I’d step away and join them. So I must admit, I’ve taken a few breaks here and there to appease their – ok no, let’s face it, to appease MY guilty conscience over not spending every waking, sunlit moment with them and their imaginations. And many of you will be happy to hear that, because of your gentle and in some cases aggressive prodding, I did take a nice hefty time-out yesterday from computering to build Fort City with the tots. And it was stellar. So thanks for the encouragement. You guys rule.
Ok, getting to the topic at hand…
I’m a little obsessed with shiny things these days. I don’t know what it is. Maybe I’m regressing back to childhood, or maybe it’s because those darling babies are visiting for the holidays. Anyway, whatever the reason, I figured I shouldn’t keep all this fabulousness to myself. So, here we go!
I caught sight of the above on this is glamorous; the set on the left is the Italian-made brushed gold linea ice oro five piece setting; on the right is the midas golden cutlery set from the conran shop
Next up, DIY: christmas place cards / name cards…
How much do you LOVE the above??!!! Tell me, how much. Because, personally, these DIY place cards are giving me conniptions. They involve succulents, manuscript paper, GOLD, and little tiny cups to hold it all. I’m obsessed. I believe I will make these for Christmas. Mark my words. I have quite a few little succulents, so before I end up killing them with my complete lack of ability to maintain them in a cold NY climate, I think I should give them one last hurrah on the stage of Christmastime (<– wow Christmastime is a word according to WordPress. But “WordPress” isn’t a word according to WordPress. I am thrown at present.)
Up next is one huge gathering of lovely that’s captured my heart. It’s insanely inspirational tabletop decor put together by a couple of my favorite talents – Vania and Christine of Simply Bloom, and the crazy talented Kate of Ruby & Willow Design Studio (who also happens to be one of our beloved Vendor Love members; check out her listing here!). Check out this spread, which was originally featured on Style Me Pretty!
Will you be fancying up your Christmas dinner table for family and friends? Or are you keeping it nice and minimal this season?
xoxo! – Alison
