Voting ended yesterday for our wedding photography giveaway and…
We’re announcing the giveaway winner on Monday of next week, so stay tuned!!! We’re FREAKING. OUT.
Now, before we address this supremely romantic shoot, we’d like to share a few pretty spectacular things, if we do say so ourselves:
1. We’ve got some seriously awesome free printables and giveaways coming, as soon as next week, people. V-Day printables (both a freebie and a ridiculously awesome giveaway, all in one!), wedding printables (omigod wait until you SEEEEEE THEEEESSSEEE), guest post awesomeness (invitations, floral picks, etc.) and, of course, MORE STELLAR BIG-TICKET GIVEAWAYS! It’s almost too much. Maybe we should scale back the free stuff?
On second thought… nahhh. :)
2. We’ve got wedding submissions coming out of our ears – which happens to be the way we like it here. Cleans the ears. But also, if the submissions we’ve received so far this year are any indication of what 2011 holds for your regular diet of TKB real weddings, then you are in for the wedding inspiration year of your life, honeys. Buckle up – it’s gonna be a very pleasant, colorful and romantic, vintage, DIY ride. If that makes any sense, and it doesn’t really but you get it.
3. We’re so glad to be hearing from our vendors that they’re booking jobs with you guys! We’re deeply in love with our vendors, so it’s such a thrill to hear such wonderful feedback about how much you love them, too. They’re truly among the best in the business, and we’re excited to continue to bring more and more industry excellence to the guide. High kick, woot!
Today’s engagement session just happens to be the perfect shoot to feature on a chilly day like today. When it arrived in my inbox, I knew I’d be keeping it for a day just like this one. You see, you don’t know it, but I’m presently freezing my buns off, with only a wee space heater inefficiently heating my space. In my dreams, I’d be sitting a few feet away from a nice, warm fire, which would – in this dream – be approximately ten yards away from a calm, sun-glistening body of water, all the while, heating marshmallows and making s’mores with my honeybunny…
Here are some words from Derren & Lisa Raser, the talented duo responsible for this romantic winter shoot:
Brittany and Travis shared with us early on that they had a really fun and creative vision for their engagement session, which you’ll see in the photos. They first wanted something outdoors that would reflect the beauty of the changing season, and also somewhere where they could could build a campfire.
We ended up meeting at a small, and beautiful lake in the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, called Devil’s Kitchen. After kindling a fire, Brittany and Travis pulled out all the fixings for fresh s’mores, including hand-whittled roasting sticks, and a vintage marshmallow tin, filled with (what else?) fluffy white marshmallows :-).
They made our job really fun, and easy, as they spent the afternoon playing, enjoying each other, and munching on their campfire sweets.

Ohhh how I love this e-shoot. It just makes me feel all warm and cozy inside… hence the title. My titles reflect my feeeeeelings. (I’m a little emo.)
Happy weekend, friendlies! See you bright and early next week when we announce the winner of our photography giveaway, and MUCH MORE. :)
xoxo! – Alison
