REAL WEDDING | Sara + Aaron | A poet, a librarian, and their vintage southern wedding day. “You can have a beautiful, personal wedding without going over budget!”

Happy Friday, lovelies!  They say it’s about 60 degrees outside and OMGIAMSOEXCITED.  It’s my BIRTHDAY this weekend, and it’s the first time we’ve had weather like this in approximately forever.  At least it feels like it’s been forever.  It’s been soooo cooold here, and we’ve been aching for a respite.  So, yay!  Go, non-polar temperatures!

Today’s wedding just makes me smile ear to ear.  And not the kind of smile I get when my honey streaks across the living room before taking a shower.  Not that smile.

That’s a different smile.

The smile I’m talking about is the kind of smile you get when you’ve been submitted a wedding that involves dusty miller, a daffodil yellow and pewter color scheme, efforts to stay on budget but not skimp on taste, and a bride just so cutie patootie that you simply can’t take it.  And I just can’t.  Also, LOOK AT HER SHOES.  Hellooooooo, gorgeous!  Her shoe tells you right off the bat that her color scheme is going to rule.  Don’t question it.  I have a sort of *Spidey Sense* for these things.

We’ve got the details on this wedding at the bottom of this post, but to set you up, here’s a quick note from the photographer, Fete Photography:

The bride is a poet and the groom is a librarian.  These elements were incorporated into the details, such as books, paper flowers made with antiqued paper, vintage-style glasses on the tables, and a typewriter.  The bride’s vintage dress was made by R. Brooked Priddy of Asheville, NC.  Beautiful yellow-centric flowers made this vintage affair come to life!

Ok, here’s the rundown from the wedding planner, Asheville Event Co:

I loved Sara’s wedding inspiration and vision from the beginning!  She’s a free spirit that loves everything vintage – and it shows in her unique sense of style.  From the daffodil yellow and pewter colors to the touches of vintage glassware, paper flowers, and love birds, this wedding was all about Sara and Aaron!  I also loved that this wedding had a very small and strict budget to adhere to.  This wedding is true testament that you can have a very beautiful and personal wedding without going over the top in spending.  The vendors for this wedding really worked together to provide a day that Sara and Aaron will never forget – Thanks to Brevard College, Colorful Palate for their southern style cuisine, Classic Event Rental, Fete Photography for capturing these details, and finally Lissa at Flora Designs – she did an incredible job translating Sara’s thoughts into a reality!

See?  How CUTE is Sarah?  Not to mention, can you believe this wedding was done on a STRICT BUDGET?  Can you tell?  Because I’m sure having trouble.  Everything came together so brilliantly!

xoxo!  – Alison

Aww this is fabulous!! So simple yet so personal. A very intimate affair :) And that color palette is to die for!

Happy Early Birthday by the way! I have got to share the dream I had. I was reading your blog before bed and so, of course, dreamed about how we met at a seafood restaurant in northern NY? And we were talking about gardening?

I’m pretty sure that means we need to be friends in real life.

it looks beautiful for being on a strict budget!
the problem i’m having with the whole budget thing is finding a venue and food that is lower in price. everytime i find a place that is seemingly a better deal than the last, by the time i add up all the costs and chairs and tables, etc it ends up being really expensive! any tips?

  13. Alison on February 18, 2011

EM – The bride let is know that her veil came from David’s Bridal. Isn’t it gorgeous? Plus, it was on sale! Which, in her words, made it “just perfect for my style and wallet!” :)

  14. Morgan Rose on February 19, 2011

Wow! another DB find!! The veil is perfect. The saturated yellow on white for the table settings is so beautiful and cheery. Very well done!
