WEDDING FASHION + TRENDS | Ivy & Aster | The long and short of it. What do you prefer?

I’ve been a little obsessed lately with Ivy & Aster ever since I had the pleasure of meeting them for the first time during Bridal Market at Chelsea Piers in the citay.  It seems that they just know what a woman wants… or at least what I want, personally.  But I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I can apply that to pretty much all of you… correct?  If I’m wrong, let me know.  I’m feeling pretty confident, though. ;)

You can thank Elizabeth Messina for the gorgeousness that’s about to hit your faces, photography-style.  Elizabeth is the queen of all things pretty, imho.

See those stunners on her footsies?  I’ve tried on the pair she’s wearing… and they’re MAGNIFICENT.

Yes.  Rest up, lovely ladies.  Your swoon-worthy work is over.

P.S. – Love the line?  One shop we know and trust is Lovely – make an appointment and get crackin’!

It’s pretty obvious that these dresses are TO DIE FOR.  But they beg the question; with such stylish options, both long and short… what style of wedding dress do you lean towards?  Short, or long?  Is the incredible selection of shorter frocks making your decision more difficult?  Weigh in. :)

Oh these are just heavenly!!! Adore Ivy & Aster…and this photo shoot!!! Elizabeth Messina did such an amazing job capturing the beauty of the dresses!! And I can’t decide on long or short – I love them both…possibly long for the ceremony and short for the reception! You lucky duck…trying on those shoes!!!! Love them ;-))

WTF! This shoot is incredible… it’s bananas!!!!!

  3. Marit on February 17, 2011

Love the short dresses! I also love the flirty cap sleeves on the first long one. What a great shoot!

  4. Sarah the Stylist on February 17, 2011

There’s so much I love about the short dresses, but I prefer the long — it’s very regal and fitting for being a bride. The shorter dresses could be what they wear at the reception.

Short options are great to have for summer brides, especially for outdoor or beach ceremonies. A lot of brides are choosing to wear a different dress at their reception as well, and these dresses are all gorgeous options. Love the photography too. Stunning shoot!

I love love love the dresses, but you know what I REALLY love?! The sparkly SHOES! I need them! Haha!

  7. Lapurse Scarves on February 17, 2011

Lovely photography! Love the dresses but if we must choose, we’ll opt for long dress! And the one in the photos is stunning!

  8. Ellen on February 17, 2011

I really love these dresses, both long and short. It’s pretty much impossible to decide, but I’m leaning towards traditional, so long! But still LOVE all of them!

  9. Meli @ Lovely Paperie by Meli on February 17, 2011

As much as I love the short dresses I still prefer long. I guess because I never really get to wear long gowns. A good way to use both – wear the long dress for the ceremony and the short dress for the reception! ;)

SWOON-the gowns are so lovely, and Miss Messina absolutely knocked it out of the park with these photos (no surprise there)! I personally love the velvet swiss dot gown (are there four more delicious words on Earth?), but I think for my big day, I’ll end up going short. John and I love the idea of a big brunch wedding, and I don’t know if I could pull off a long velvet gown at breakfast!

It’s hard to know what I love more : Elizabeth Messina’s brilliant mind or these beautiful dresses.

  12. Marie @ Emici Bridal on February 17, 2011

  14. Lauren Elise on February 17, 2011

I almost have this physical and emotional reaction to the beauty of these dresses {and images}! Like I’m shocked and stunned by their brilliance. Like no appropriate words are coming to mind…at least not in my vocabulary. :)

I wanted to have this reaction to BHLDN…why didn’t I? I know you feel me on this Alison!

OMG. These dresses are stunning and fabulous like you!!

I personally *LOVE* short wedding dresses. I can’t get enough of it. I had my heart set on getting one for my wedding but eventually ended up with a long dress for the wrong reasons. If I had to do it over, it would mos def short dress.

  16. Claire on February 18, 2011

These dresses are so beautiful, I love all of them!! I like the long and short look for different things.

  17. I’m with Kristi: Long for ceremony, short and sweet for dancing! I like to have my dresses and wear them too!

  18. Beth on February 18, 2011

Who is the designer behind those pretty pink sparkling shoes?

  19. Cheri on February 18, 2011

Can you tell me where I can find those shoes?

  20. Morgan Rose on February 19, 2011

OMG!! I’m literally drooling! I’m loving everything about every image :) I love the short dresses – the window shot is pretty incredible. but i don’t see myself wearing one for my wedding..just because how many chances do you get to wear a gown? maybe for the reception!!

  21. lizzie on February 20, 2011

i LOVE the short dresses in their collection for sure!

  22. Kate/MagnoliaRouge on February 20, 2011

Elizabeth’s photos on this shoot are simply to die for!! I love both long and short but I would still choose long for my wedding as it’s easier to wear short at other times… how often do you get to wear a long dress!!

  23. Beth Printz on February 23, 2011

Shoes……Who is the designer? Where can I find them?

  24. Michelle Price on March 5, 2011
