SEQUINS, BEADS, POINTELLE & LACE | afternoon post nugget while I’m at Bridal Market | Cream, beige, ivory and white frocks for you… or your bridemaids! Plus, a pupdate.

HAPPY MONDAY, LOVELIES!  I’m spending much of today getting my Bridal Market on, but you didn’t think I was gonna go without posting on this finest of fine Mondays, did you?  Because that would be ridic. Obvs. I’m all up in it today runway-wise, and probably spending much too much time walking around my beloved nyc in the highest of heels.  The heel thing happens approximately 14 times a year – it also excites the honeyboy, so I’m sure when he reads this he’ll a) get pretty psyched about this fact, and look forward to when we get home tonight *wink wink nudge nudge* and b) LOOOVE that I’m talking to the public about our impending romp.

Anyway, I’ve been dying to bring something to your faces today, so here it is, in a tidy little afternoon (if you’re east coast) post nugget!  And of course by *tidy* and *little* I mean an extremely lengthy fashion-focused post that I spent forever to assemble, as per usual.  (Because when have I ever posted a quickie?)

… BUT FIRST …

Nameless McPuppyPants met Boots this weekend.  Boots is the toy puppy my honey bought me like 2 years ago, as a stand-in for the real thing.  Anywho, we’ve been very excited for this moment…

and, with fingers crossed, our dream came true…

They got along famously!  And, after some playtime, it was naptime for these brand new BFFs.  (Have we created a sort of imaginary friend for our little puppelah? Good?  Bad?  Impactless?)

… one more thing on the puppy front: no, McPuppyPants is not his name.  It’s just another made up moniker that allows me to blog about our still nameless puppy.  Siiiiigh.

Ok, SO.  Rhi and Andy’s wedding blew our minds with beauty last week, and prompted me to launch a little Twitter poll re: wearing two dresses on your wedding day.  Ready for the results?  Turns out you guys are quite mixed on the concept, but the vast majority of you (who are on Twitter and saw the poll at least) feel that a second dress for the wedding reception, if that’s what the bride would like, is a fantastic and very practical idea.  Specifically if it’s a short frock, and you plan to rip up the dance floor with your fresh skillz.

Now, you may remember Rhi rocked an elegant second dress on her wedding day.  In fact I have no doubt you’ll remember, since it caused quite a stir on Twitter…

So, I thought I’d offer you guys another installment of my favorite little white numbers, should you decide you wanna do a wardrobe change on your Big Day.  The picks below run the gamut from elegant to playful to vintage to mod, and so on, and so on, and so on!  Hope you love, lovers.

I have a big smile on my face about this post… ok, here we go…

ASOS Embellished Neck Tulip Dress

French Connection Solar Swirl Neck Dress

Lipsy Dress With Frill Front And Tiered Hem

River Island Snake Print Waisted Dress

If you want sleeves, and you want sexy…

TFNC 60′s Style Lace A-Line Mini Dress

↑ I die for that back.

Here’s a little sleeved number that’ll surely get your rocks off.  I’m pretty turned on by it, myself, actually.

Oasis Victoriana Lace Dress

Nice, eh?

Now, is casual the name of the game?  And do you plan to work up a sweat on the dance floor?  Then the ASOS Sweetheart Sundress below is IT.  (It’s cotton, it’s casual, it’s perfect.  And you can wear it to the beach on your honeymoon!)

Do you die for sequins, serious detailing, and pretty much anything pointelle?

French Connection Lace Embellished Pencil Dress is probably the dress for you.  Just WAIT ’til you see the detailing up close…

↓ AAAHHHHH!  Right?

Something about this work of art below is giving me palpitations.

Oasis Sheer Sleeve Embellished Dress

Below is a very hip, very simple look that caught my eye…

ASOS 60s Abstract Shift Dress

This next look just makes me scream.  It’s fabulously elegant, sexy but appropriate, and it’s one of the  few *beaded-front/plain-back* frocks that don’t completely piss me off.  I usually hate it when they don’t bead up the flip-side, but I actually prefer the unique, plain back of the number.

ASOS SALON Beaded Frill Back Dress

↑ Do you die?  Because I’m already dead.

Gosh I love these dress posts.  Any favorites?  Did this make your Monday the teensiest bit more bearable?  I hope it did.  Did you know that “teensiest” is an accepted word in WordPress?  … But that “WordPress” isn’t?  Go figure :)

On another note, what do YOU think of wearing a second dress on your wedding day?

Are you a one-fabulous-frock kind of person, or do you dig the two dress concept?

xoxo!  -Alison

P.S. – I saw “Love and Other Drugs” this weekend.  Unexpectedly loved it.  Release the hate, if you feel the need.

Label(s): Beige/brown, Color, Mr. McPuppyPants, White, {Fashion}

Love all of this...

I dig the two dress concept, but I dropped $1,350 on my wedding frock (and in my short book of what’s what, that’s a butt load for a one-timer dress) so I’ll be wearing one. Unless I win the super freaking adorable Powdered Sugar dress. Then my current gown and I might have to sit and have a talk…

Also, the pups is ADORBZ x ten million. I want a Frenchie so bad for my little Pug to have a fraynd, but the H2B said no way.

NOOOOOO!! I am asbolutely in love with the Oasis Victoriana dress and it’s out of stock! Oh well. I got married a year ago (anniversary was yesterday!) so I don’t need a 2nd dress.

By the way, I love the concept of a costume change. I went to a wedding last summer where the bride changed from a gorgeous full length gown into a cute little strapless feathery number. (And her husband changed into a kilt!) It was great!

P.S. Getting any closer to a name for the pup?

I wasn’t planning on a reception dress but NOW I AM. I’m having an elegant vintage wedding and the beaded frill dress looks like it fits that concept perfectly. I think I need it in my life. :)

Theresa – ehh, we’re slightly closer to deciding, but we could change our minds at any moment, so no, not really now that I think about it. Isn’t that terrible? While walking the pup the other day, I met a fellow dog owner (I hate saying *owner*) who told me that it took him 3-4 weeks to decide on a name. He said he’s a firm believer in animals *telling you* their names, through their personalities. So what I’m doing is alright, he said. Made me feel better. But also made me totally relax on picking a name. NOT a safe mindspace to be in for yours truly. I am indecisive, as a rule. Feeling like I have time to choose a name is dangerous ground for this puppy.

Still, we do have some candidates. I think I need to release those to you guys sooner than later. I just get so scared about all of them being shot down! You know how parents don’t share potential baby names for fear of them being hated? That’s this.

I don’t know how I can talk because you HAVE killed me wit those dresses! I actually changed into a little white ruffled dress during a little “salsa” number that my husband and I performed on our wedding. Then I changed back into my wedding dress because I had to juice that baby for what it was worth!!!

p.s. the back on that 60′s lace mini-dress?! *dies*

p.s.s. Definitely didn’t mean to write “wit” — bahaha. Wow. I might as well have said “killin’ me wit da dresses.” Yeah, NO. :)

Claire – funny you call him dog, b/c the honey suggested “Dogue” (the french for bulldog is bouledogue). Sigh. That was a suggestion fail on the honey’s part. It’s ok; we both get three of those. ;)

On a linear note, my Dad suggested Boule. Better, but ehh.

    NAMING IS SOOO HAAARD!

Alejandra – I think I would have preferred your second phrasing.Y’all know ahm fuh for slangin’ it all up, ya heard. ;)

I adored my wedding dress too much to dream of changing into another dress. BUT I love the idea of a little white dress for the reception. Very fun!

That snuggle snapshot actually hurt my heart-too damn adorable.

John is usually equally excited on the very infrequent occasion that I’m in a pair of sky high heels, but I’m usually in so much pain by the end of the night I need to be drunk/asleep.

As for two dresses, I’m all for it! Do what you want, what makes you feel good-it’s your wedding, after all!

Hope you’re having a divine time at market, darling-can’t wait to get the scoop!

I LOVE the two gown idea, I did this at my own wedding and many of my clients are starting to plan for two as well! If a bride is hesitant about two gowns, consider changing into another actual wedding gown (shorter hemline of course). I have noticed much of the hesitance comes from brides feeling like the second gown isn’t as “special” if it’s a ready-to-wear option.
