THE GAME OF TEA PARTY YOU WANT TO PLAY | I heart swiss dot dresses, pretty place settings and cake perfection. I don’t heart Pregnant in Heels. Plus… Bambino :)

As I sit here, awash in my newest set of *concerns* after watching the latest episode of Rosie Pope’s “Pregnant in Heels” last night, I wonder something.  Well, I wonder two things.  The less apropos is how in the eff a baby is going to escape what seems to be the choke-hold grip my ya-ya (not to be confused with Nana; very different) will, when it comes time, have on the entire length of the child’s form as it eases on down that red brick road.  The much more apropos and far less jarringly unsettling is:

Just how girlie can we get, while still being super pretty in a good way and maintaining a sense of dignity and everything and all that?  I ask myself this often – I mean I’m a wedding blogger, and submissions *run the gamut,* believe me.  But I ask myself that especially given the fact that, as many of you know, I chose the mitt over the dress as a wee babe (who my mother SWEARS came out without a hitch, but I think she’s just scared of the Rosie Pope effect, which causes strong and aggressive hatred for the birthing process.  This is not unlike the Butterfly Effect, which causes strong and aggressive hatred for Ashton Kutcher).  I should be clear, by the way – by mitt I do not mean of the oven variety (though I can get down with that on occasion); I mean mitt, as in, “let’s play catch, Dad!  Nah, I don’t wanna go over to Stephanie’s house, I hate her.  C’mon, let’s DO THIS THING DADDY!”

So, you can imagine, shoots like today’s used to give me the willies.  Of course, I say *used to* because now I’m like so totally fancy and love s*** like this.  The swiss dot dress, the ornate place settings, the stunning but playful florals, the GORGEOUS cake decorated with edible pearls to match her necklace… I mean, I just die.  I just DIE.  Totally inspiring, imho.

Again, for the new readers out there (hi! welcome aboard the crazy train!) imho means “in my humble opinion;” and it is not an admission of promiscuity issues.  Ok?  I’m not admitting to being a ho.  …College doesn’t count.  No, I’m joking!  I meant to say high school doesn’t count.  OMG I’m kidding.  WTF is wrong with me today.

Enjoy this fantabulous shoot, which was submitted by The Wedding Central with florals done by Floriography Designs, while I go explain what I just said in that last paragraph to my honey, family and puppy (who is back by popular demand at the bottom of this post). ;)

A few whimsical words from make-up artist Deirdre Mahon:

When I think about the Tea Party shoot the words soft, sweet and feminine come to mind. Our bride was flirty, fun and girly, and I personally longed to sip tea and play with my pearls while I invited my dearest friends to sit with me and feast off of gorgeous china and eat that delicious yummy cake. There was a beautiful fragrance from the flowers in the air that day, and as I watched the bride pour her tea I remembered back to when I was a a little girl and dreamed of tea parties like this. This was such a fun experience for me and I am so happy to have been a part of it and to have worked with Gabriela Fuentes from The Wedding Central.

Thanks, ladies!

And now… another day in the life of Bambino, back by popular demand.

My best friend is this rope.  I like it in my mouth ALWAYS!  I think it’s because it tastes like rope – yeah, that’s it.  With some treat regurgitation peppered in and the slightest – just the slightest – hint of pee. Deeeeeliscious!

Wait, is that the couch.  Is that- that’s the COUCH.

Did you want a rematch, couch?  I’ve been conditioning my eyes recently to ensure maximum “keep-openness,” waiting for this day…

Actually, let’s table the staring contest.  I’m bored.  Let’s just watch some tv with our junk out.  All comfortable-like.  No?  Just me?  Ok fine whatevs I really don’t care but it definitely speaks to our solidarity.

On second thought…

*zzzzzzz.*

Sigh.

Let’s talk about this shoot, shall we?  What do you think of the color palette?  I adore adore adore.  It’s just so springy and fresh.  Two of my favorite words. :)

xoxo!  – Alison

I don’t know what I love best- the incredible cake, the sweet dress or your adorable puppy! The cake may win by a slight margin, it’s just so cool & different from anything I’ve seen.

The whole setting is so cute and pretty! The theme and the colors are so great, especially the colors of the flowers that bring out the theme much more. The cake is stunning, especially with the pearls on it.

I love the bambino updates almost as much (more?) as the prettiness in this post. He looks like a very entertaining little pup. The cake is to. die. for. and I adore the mismatched china.

Ok… LOVE the wedding, but seriously… your dog is a-freakin-dorable. You should make him his own blog. I would totally read it every day:)

Happy to have been a part of this beautiful day.
And happy to have been mentioned as the makeup artist….even if you spelled my name wrong, lol.

Lily and Deeva think your doggy is so cute and want to come over and have a tea party of their own. ~

Beautiful! I’m loving that china pattern too..

I woudn’t worry about it. I was all tea parties and ballet but I still climbed trees. That puppy though, made my ovaries ache in a different way. Not like I want to birth a puppy though…

God, you have to stop being hysterical or I need to start reading you somewhere that is not the middle of my office. Giggling when you’re supposed to be doing QuickBooks modeling looks very, very bad indeed!

This shot is pretty heavenly-I’m such a sucker for swiss dot. Although I think my girly factor has scaled back significantly-thinking of my childhood Laura Ashley bedroom gives me the willies.

What does not give me the willies, however, is that little monster!!! Oh my god, with the rope? You had to give us rope and couch and cuddle and nap? It’s just not fair.

    Erin – don’t think we haven’t considered that. ;)

    Nikki – lol. my oooovarrrrriieees.

Love that you own your youthful tomboy ways. No one believes that I, who love nothing more than to stare at beautiful dresses all day, was mortified at the idea of putting on a prom dress and having people from my school SEE ME. How horrific!

The cake is stunning……LOVE of the pattern on the back of the menu card it picks up the look of the place setting perfectly……….now for Bambino of course he is as cute as ever but what I am in awe of is how the creamy white coach he is always sitting on is soooooo clean….making he him not only the most adorable puppy dog but also the cleanest:)

Here’s how I read your posts: First, I scroll down to see any and all pics of Bambino, then I scroll back up and then scroll through the pretty pictures of the post, and then I scroll back up and read through everything you wrote, trying not to pee my pants from laughing – you have the best blog voice out there!!!! And cutest puppy. And I love that girl’s makeup.

Jury is out on Pregnant in Heels – I think I like her but don’t like the show? I’ll weigh in later.

OMG. My MoH and I were just talking the other day. She is getting married as well (I’m her MoH) and we realized. Holy Bawlz. We are getting married. MAAAARRRIED. And you know what is the next adult step after marriage? CHILDREN! *FAINTS*

After reviving ourselves, we had to sit down as our hoohoos were upset at the thought of a watermelon bursting forth. *shiver*

BAAAACK on topic. Shoot is adorbs. A little too on the frilly side for my rustic tastes.

And the Baminator just keeps bringing it. You were verging on cute overload.
