As I sit here, awash in my newest set of *concerns* after watching the latest episode of Rosie Pope’s “Pregnant in Heels” last night, I wonder something. Well, I wonder two things. The less apropos is how in the eff a baby is going to escape what seems to be the choke-hold grip my ya-ya (not to be confused with Nana; very different) will, when it comes time, have on the entire length of the child’s form as it eases on down that red brick road. The much more apropos and far less jarringly unsettling is:
Just how girlie can we get, while still being super pretty in a good way and maintaining a sense of dignity and everything and all that? I ask myself this often – I mean I’m a wedding blogger, and submissions *run the gamut,* believe me. But I ask myself that especially given the fact that, as many of you know, I chose the mitt over the dress as a wee babe (who my mother SWEARS came out without a hitch, but I think she’s just scared of the Rosie Pope effect, which causes strong and aggressive hatred for the birthing process. This is not unlike the Butterfly Effect, which causes strong and aggressive hatred for Ashton Kutcher). I should be clear, by the way – by mitt I do not mean of the oven variety (though I can get down with that on occasion); I mean mitt, as in, “let’s play catch, Dad! Nah, I don’t wanna go over to Stephanie’s house, I hate her. C’mon, let’s DO THIS THING DADDY!”
So, you can imagine, shoots like today’s used to give me the willies. Of course, I say *used to* because now I’m like so totally fancy and love s*** like this. The swiss dot dress, the ornate place settings, the stunning but playful florals, the GORGEOUS cake decorated with edible pearls to match her necklace… I mean, I just die. I just DIE. Totally inspiring, imho.
Again, for the new readers out there (hi! welcome aboard the crazy train!) imho means “in my humble opinion;” and it is not an admission of promiscuity issues. Ok? I’m not admitting to being a ho. …College doesn’t count. No, I’m joking! I meant to say high school doesn’t count. OMG I’m kidding. WTF is wrong with me today.
Enjoy this fantabulous shoot, which was submitted by The Wedding Central with florals done by Floriography Designs, while I go explain what I just said in that last paragraph to my honey, family and puppy (who is back by popular demand at the bottom of this post). ;)
A few whimsical words from make-up artist Deirdre Mahon:
When I think about the Tea Party shoot the words soft, sweet and feminine come to mind. Our bride was flirty, fun and girly, and I personally longed to sip tea and play with my pearls while I invited my dearest friends to sit with me and feast off of gorgeous china and eat that delicious yummy cake. There was a beautiful fragrance from the flowers in the air that day, and as I watched the bride pour her tea I remembered back to when I was a a little girl and dreamed of tea parties like this. This was such a fun experience for me and I am so happy to have been a part of it and to have worked with Gabriela Fuentes from The Wedding Central.
And now… another day in the life of Bambino, back by popular demand.
My best friend is this rope. I like it in my mouth ALWAYS! I think it’s because it tastes like rope – yeah, that’s it. With some treat regurgitation peppered in and the slightest – just the slightest – hint of pee. Deeeeeliscious!
Wait, is that the couch. Is that- that’s the COUCH.
Did you want a rematch, couch? I’ve been conditioning my eyes recently to ensure maximum “keep-openness,” waiting for this day…
Actually, let’s table the staring contest. I’m bored. Let’s just watch some tv with our junk out. All comfortable-like. No? Just me? Ok fine whatevs I really don’t care but it definitely speaks to our solidarity.
On second thought…
Let’s talk about this shoot, shall we? What do you think of the color palette? I adore adore adore. It’s just so springy and fresh. Two of my favorite words. :)
xoxo! – Alison
