I sat through the invasive surgery that was the season premiere of The Bachelorette last night.
Honestly, I have very little to say about it. Ashley is extremely boring to watch; I can’t put my finger on why that is exactly, but she is. And I mostly played with the pup and answered “trying” to my sweetie’s variations on “Are you actually watching this crap? This girl’s pretty boring… gaaaa she’s so BORING Alison!” which he asked a few times throughout the show. Nope, I wasn’t watching the crap. Because it was a bit too crappy, even for my taste. Remember, I’m the one who sat through an entire season of E!’s Bridal Plasty. Pretty much the only line of intrigue is this bachelor named Bentley, and the main thing he’s on camera saying is something along the lines of “I’m so pissed that Ashley’s the bachelorette. I was really hoping on Emily. I could give a F*** about Ashley.” Actually that’s more like verbatim what he said. So it’s good to see that the show’s editors are wasting no time feeding on Ashley’s enormous insecurity about being the chosen one this season. Good to see that. Also great to see Ashley crying over it in the previews already. Makings of great television. I can no longer stand this show. (Is it just me? Do you think it’ll get better?)
Moving right along… Megan Welker sent me this boudoir submission with the subject line “you’re gunna love this :)” and so, of course, I had to check if I was gonna love it. And guess what? I did. I totally loved it. 75 internet points for Megan! (Redeemable nowhere.)
First: the color palette employed in this shoot – in the clothing, the decor, the natural scenery – it’s breathtakingly lovely and accents the female form so beautifully.
Second: the outfits. Ohhhhh my goodness, the outfits. They’re so simple, and so perfect! If this shoot proves anything, it’s that, while you can, you don’t have to wear $100-per-centimeter-of-fabric-lingerie to pull of an amazing boudoir shoot.
Third: Alicia, our bride, seems completely relaxed and comfortable with her body. ESSENTIAL. No matter how you feel about yourself, just let loose and rock some poses for a shoot like this.
I mean, COME ON. How hot is that shot? Note: the boys, they love seeing us in their oxford shirts. And they love it even more when we just drape them effortlessly over our bodies, a-like a-so ↑
A few words from Megan about the shoot:
I shot this amazing boudoir session for a bride of mine as her wedding gift for her fiance, Brook! Alicia was such a gem to shoot! So comfortable in front of the camera, which is hard to do almost nude ;) We had a blast picking out outfits and props the day of! She found those adorable chalkboard bins at Marshalls and the vintage books at an antique store! Both the vintage chair we used in the field and the chaise came from one of her best friends! I can’t wait to photograph Brook’s reaction when he opens his wedding gift in a few weeks :)
The rundown from our gorgeous bride, Alicia:
I wanted to do the shoot to provide my husband-to-be with an unforgettable gift on the day of our wedding. Unlike traditional gifts, a photobook of these portraits, is a gift he can look back on over the years and keep for the rest of his life. Its truly a gift for a man, that keeps on giving! I know that when he opens this book he will understand and value the time and thought that went into making this shoot one of a kind, just for him. Doing the shoot was an absolute blast! My photographer Megan Welker, was very professional and easy-going which made me comfortable to show the camera some skin and my inner beauty. Two of my best friends assisted the shoot to ensure laughs and smiles out of me! The time leading up to this shoot was also equally as fun – I shopped for the “perfect” attire to wear on shoot day, and what I felt I would feel most comfortable, and beautiful in! I am truly anticipating the next three weeks until my wedding so I can finally give my fiance the special gift!
My looks: The white ruffled one is from Target! The black sassy one is from Victoria’s Secret, the rose colored shirt thing is from Foreign Exchange, and pretty much the rest of the pieces came from Forever 21!
Holy affordable, Batman! Pretty much all you guys have to do is babysit your neighbor’s kid for 2 hours and BAM, you’ve got the majority, if not all of these ensembles in the biggity bag, y’all!
And now, like old times, I have to embed a tribute to fingerless gloves. ‘Cause when else can I embed this video? Other than the last time I featured something involving fingerless gloves. Anyway, enjoy:
And one more, for the road…
And, because like I said on Twitter five seconds ago, I can’t help myself any longer…
↑ One of the rare moments I give in and give him some one-on-one cuddle time whilst I work. ↑
So, what do you think of Alicia’s shoot? And are you hating this season of The Bachelorette as much as I am? Or, part three: did you totally not watch The Bachelorette because duh it’s totally ridiculous and I’m even more ridiculous for watching that abysmal crap? Or part four: are you having a nice day? Tell me about it. ;)
xoxo! – Alison
