ANTHROPOLOGIE + FAMILY FARM LOVE | There’s a first time for everything… | Engagement Shoot by Jodi Miller… Plus, Bambino McPuppyPants – Character Actor.

Happy Thursday, friendlies!  It’s a sunny day where I am, and Bambino just wrapped up his 4th semi-barf of the morning.  Don’t worry, vet says he’s fine, so we’re not overly concerned about it.  But I’ve got to say, watching a six and a half month old frenchie dry heave blueberries and kibble has made it’s way to the top of my Saddest Sad Things List, even atop I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant (until I crapped out my baby, usually, is the way those end), 16 & Pregnant and 16 & Pregnant Reunion Specials.  So, hehe, you can uhhhh, you can probably get a good idea of how redonkulously sad it’s been to watch the furbaby hurl.  (Also, weirdly adorable, since we know he’s ok.  But definitely mostly sad.)

Ok, SO, as many of you likely know by now, I like to get my calm, cool and collected on with Pandora’s personalized mixes streaming as I get my blogging on, ahswell.  Feels good, feels right.  Really keeps me focused in a super-duper HYPERFOCUSED kind of way.  Even more intensely than my naturally occurring hyper-focusing tendency, which is HELLA STRONG and often results in Pinteresting for 5 hours if I don’t make a serious effort to reign it in, self-control-style.

Anyway, the other day, Bon Jovi found his way into my Pandora mix.  I WAS COMPLETELY TAKEN OFF GUARD.  “Livin’ On A Prayer’ is a song I’ve more often laughed at than grooved to.  But, yesterday, I found myself slowly swaying to the smooth, sultry vocals and kickass beat of the 80s rock ballad… and I tweeted about it.  A-like a-so:

‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ by Bon Jovi just came up on Pandora. I’m not changing it.

WELL.  Let’s just say it went over well with y’all.  Lots of Bon Jovi fans out there, I presume?  And quite a few of you have tweeted or texted me that you thought of me when Bon Jovi came on throughout the day, and into this morning.  So, I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I believe I’ve successfully and forever linked myself with The BJ. … WAIT A MINUTE.

We’re moving on.  Don’t look back.  If you don’t look back, it’ll feel like nothing happened…

OK SO OMG THIS LOVE SHOOT IS AMAZEBALLS, just so you know.  I’m thinking you might agree?  When Jodi Miller submitted this charming love session, I fell over in my chair, knocked my head on the ground, went into a coma, checked into the hospital, stayed for a week, got released, got sent back due to complications, got released again with a prescription, got a ride home, took a shower, sat down at my desk and BLOGGED IT TODAY.  (‘Cause I just got dropped off.)

Jodi Miller is amazeballs, and the only thing that can add more amazeballsness to the situation is having half of your couple be in the employ of Anthropologie.  Say what you will about Anthro, everyone involved in that company is crrrrrraaaaazy artistic and generally talented and gifted, and likely were literally IN the “Talented and Gifted” program in their grade school years.  I love how creative these folks are, and I truly can’t wait to see Caitlin and Steven’s wedding!!!  I think my hospital stay will last at least 3 months once I get a glimpse. ;)

Ok, hope you enjoy!  And I’ve got a question about wearing engagement rings at the end, so check out these strawberry-liscious pics and then weigh in, if you’d like to.  Ok, here we go…

A few words from Jodi about the shoot:

Caitlin and Steven planned a Spring engagement session on Steven’s family farm in Amelia County, VA.  Caitlin works for Anthropologie and incorporated a lot of cute props from Anthropologie, including these handmade dandelion props that are displayed in the store she works for.  The props showcase the progression of a dandelion as it is blown.  We used them for a short stop-motion video!

Fun Fact: Caitlin took off her engagement FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER since getting engaged.  Like WHOA.  I love a girl who’ll do anything for a great shot, which, clearly, THESE ARE.  Bonus fact: She asked her honeybunny to place it back on her finger when Jodi finished up those scrumptious detail shots.  I don’t know about you, but for me, that = MAXIMUM ADORABLENESS.

By the way, Caitlin fashioned her bouquet, not to mention the boutonniere, out of drawer pulls from Anthropologie. Awesome?  In my estimation that’s an affirmative.

And now I present to you… Bambino McPuppyPants – Character Actor:

We had a rainbow to play with, so we had some fun.  We begin with…

The “eating a blueberry that i’ll be throwing up later.”

Followed by the ever popular rainbow mustache (I see these catching on in photo booths at weddings, I’m calling it.  Bambino paves the way.)… the “misfire” and the “aaaaahhhh I’m being choked by a rainbow.”

And here we have the “hippie frenchie,” the “I’m no longer interested in doing this with you anymore mommy,” and the “seriously, mom, enough already.”

And finally… the “Adorable.”

Sigh.  You guys.  You have to stop encouraging these shenanigans.  This is so ridiculous!  I tells ya!

Ok, so – the shoot – do you love?  Can you BELIEVE Caitlin’s NEVER REMOVED HER ENGAGEMENT RING, until this shoot?  I think I’d endlessly scar myself if I kept my ring on at every single moment of every single day.  I’m just imagining it right now.  I have a normal size ring, but I just know I’d rip out clumps of hair in the shower, and lacerate Bambino when I give him belly tickles.  The list goes on.

Do you wear your engagement ring every day at every moment?

Also, HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE JODI, CAITLIN AND STEVEN?  This shoot brings me endless happiness, y’all.

xoxo!  – Alison

I wear my ring ALLLL THHEEE TIMMEE… but recently I woke up to it being MAJORLY bent out of shape. Like BIG TIME bent. ( okay, it was this morning actually) Since I never take it off…. I can’t even be sure how it happened! After I get to take it in… I don’t think this will be the case anymore. *sad face*

    Love these pictures. Crazy pretty.
No engagement ring, obvs because I’m super single. But I do wear a ring that I literally never take off. My finger feels naked without it.

Gigi – The ring on the strawberry shot is PERFECTION. Agreed :)

Amelia – Oh goodness! Ok now you’ve got me extremely intrigued re: your little mystery. You must report back with your findings!

Caitlin – I hear the ‘finger feels naked without my ring’ thing quite a lot. So interesting to me, since I’m not that way. And I wear this thing pretty much day in day out, save for sports and showers and beddypie time. Humph! :)

Love the post! I never thought I could wear a ring every second of every day… Until I got engaged! And now I have to send it off so they can make a mold for my wedding band… Eek! I’m going to feel naked without it on!!

This post does not help my already unhealthy obsession with Anthropologie! Just lovely. And I’m so impressed with Bambino’s acting skills!

The shoot is fabulous. When I saw the preview of the bouquet I was speechless. Beautiful!!

A few years ago I took a special detail shot of my parents rings for them. They only have one wedding photo from back in the day! As he handed me the ring to photograph my dad told me that was the first (and as far as I know the only time since) he has ever taken off his ring! Can you believe it? I personally don’t think I would be a 24/7 ring wearer, but I think it’s so sweet.

Love this shoot! What an adorable couple and I loved the strawberry shots.

I take my engagement ring off only once a day…while I shower. Then it’s back on all day after that. However, like Kelly mentioned in her comment (above)…I had to give up my ring for a little over a week while they worked on a mold for my wedding band. They were supposed to call me when it was ready to pick up but they never did so after a week, I went into the store and asked if they were all set with it because I missed it and wanted it back on my finger…they were done and handed it back…I would have been sad to leave it for another week if they were not done with it at that time.

Before I got engaged…I didn’t wear any rings so it was actually an adjustment at first…now it’s an addiction :0)

Ugh. I am loving this engagement shoot…it is just so stinkin’ cute! I absolutely adore the pictures with the ‘&’ symbol…I can see it blown up over their fireplace right now.

Kelly- Ahh! I just had to give up my engagement ring so that they could take a mold for my wedding band and I have been without it for a week now! I felt naked until I put a little band on as a place holder.

The only time I take off my ring is when I shower…it makes me nervous having it in the direct vicinity of a drain.

Hmmm…I’ve never been inside an Anthropologie, maybe now that I know they sell more than clothes for a 12 year old, I might mosey on over. I’m pretty sure Austin has one.

What a silly rainbow eater! He’s so sweet and with you channeling his personality – I could dip hims in chocolate and enjoy hims with a diamond-filled strawberry bucket! BTW – shutthefrontdoor with the All American Couple – So appropriate for 4th of Julyishness.

I always take my rings off. To shower, to garden, to do dishes. I couldn’t imagine it getting gross and dirty! (Plus, it costs like 100 dollars to clean, and I keep buying shoes so that’s not happening).

BUT. I love her lace dress, I must own.

O.K., Miss Alison…First let me say, I’m old. Like, really old. As in almost 55. However, that being said, I love reading your blog. It brings me great happiness and, if either of my darling daughters gets engaged, I will be directing them to your page immediatly!!
Regarding Monsieur Bambino…adorable and we will not stop encouraging your indulgences!! You keep us entertained!
Regarding the engagement ring…My husband gave me mine almost 34 years ago, and except for the week before our wedding when he had our initials and wedding date engraved inside the band, I have not had it off since. Ever. Not through 3 births and an operation. My beloved is an actor and occasionally has to have his ring off, but we just slide it onto my finger for the run of the show, then slide it back to him after. So, that’s my story. Enjoy your holiday weekend….Hugs to McPuppy. :-)

I’ve never commented before, but wanted to weigh in, A. Because Bambs is like the. cutest. ever. Please never stop with the pics. It’s like serious puppy porn that goes straight into I’m-dying-for-a-puppy-but-live-in-a-teeny-one-bedroom-that-doesn’t-allow-dogs part of my brain. B. I’ve been engaged for a little over 6 months now, and I take my ring off for a lot of things (cooking, showering, sleeping, cleaning). This is partially because I don’t relish cleaning it all the freaking time (which is clearly necessary when it’s caked in flour or random cleaning products), and also because I just can’t imagine, say, cleaning the cat litter box with it on. Am I alone here? Because it makes me dry-heave a little to think about the possible results of that scenario. Just sayin’.

Love the blog! Keep on keepin’ on, and other catchy cliches. :)

I’m in the minority: I don’t take off my ring – I shower with it, I wash dishes with it, I sleep with it. The only times I take it off are in the morning: I put on lotion and put my ring in the supersonic cleaner machiney – then back on le finger.

Bambio: Never. Stop. Posting. Today in P-chem it was the only thing that gave me joy. Happened to miss some important inverse derivative info, but Bambino was so worth it!!!

It’s all about McPuppyPants and that rainbow for me right now. We need a whole new word for cute!!

On the engagement ring subject: I sleep with it, shower with it on, walk the dog with it on, work out, and all sorts of other activities. The only things that I take it off for is really involved cooking, like where I’ll be touching raw meat/sauce/eggs, etc. with my hands potentially and could get stuff caked in my ring which would be majorly gross, and when I put lotion on or product in my hair, because otherwise the lotion cakes in the cravasses and dulls the diamond. Other than that, it’s on my finger 24/7!

I never thought I’d be the type to wear-it-all-the-time-no-holds-barred, but I’ve taken it off once since we got engaged in January…just to make sure it actually could since it was a little snug.

Now, where I go, it goes.

Agree with above, my hand feels “nakie” without it.

I just found your blog and I think I am addicted. And I love this shoot! Strawberries! Yum. They look so happy. I always love couple shoots that capture that.

The Ring Thing. I’m not engaged (yet–Boyfriend told me he’s saving for a ring, which was a huge mistake because now every expense seems completely unnecessary since the money could be going in the ring fund), but I have a Claddagh ring on my left ring finger that I never ever ever take off unless I’m fiddling with it, and even then it doesn’t usually leave my finger completely. Once it fell off while I was asleep and I sort of flipped out, and once I woke up with it upside down, which was really weird. The only time I’ve intentionally taken it off was once when I woke up with an Itchy Thing right under it, and that was gone within a few hours. I imagine the engagement ring will get caught on more things and I’ll be more nervous about it getting dirty, so I’ll take that off when I’m painting or kneading dough or anything really messy.

I used to have a ring that I wore on my right middle finger, but the silver plating wore off and I was allergic to whatever was under it. I took that off over a year ago and it still feels weird to not have a ring there. I think I’ll be replacing it soon.
