ICE CREAM + PUPPIES + SNEAK PEEKS | A completely non-wedding-related post, for giggles and tickles and weekends, oh my!

↑ I’m dying.  No, wait – no, I’m already dead.  Yup.

Alrighty, SO!  Happy afternoon, darlings!  I have a little relationship question for ya at the end of this post, but let’s address THESE FREAKING PHOTOS, shall we? Yes, yes we shall.

As you know, it’s Friiiiiiday Friiiiiiiiday, and I think we all know that we most definitely have got to get down on Friiiiiiday.  IfyouknowwhatimsayinAndithinkyoudo.

What we have here is a little holiday weekend afternoon post to lead you brightly and beautifully into the long weekend for those who are stateside, and for those who aren’t, well it’s just s’darn purty that I think you’ll like, too. :)  I know I’m hella inspired by it.  Livy of A Field Journal inspires me on the regular, and her Fourth of July shoot is no exception.

And those cute little honey-liscious treats above?  Those are a wee sneak peek into a DIY wedding one of our fantabulous vendors has in store for your face.  I seriously can’t wait to slam it right smack in your eyes, gentle-style.

But for now, a little taste of the ‘ty-ty’ version (what we say to him when we think he might be ready for bed) of Bambino, and more of Livy’s eye-watering work…

And please pardon the tit factor in that shot of me and The Bambeeeen.  Believe me, I wish they were that enormous.  Sadly, objects in iPhone photographs (taken by me at least) are slightly smaller than they appear.  SIIIIIGH.

Ok, NOW, that little question thingamajig I mentioned up top, before I send you on your merry way…

Honey and I were having a conversation with another couple recently about how we so rely on our significant others for certain things, because they aren’t necessarily our personal strengths, per se.  Ok, that was confusing.  I don’t know how to write today.  I might already be checked out.  Ok, what I’m trying to say is, that the guy half of the other couple and I were agreeing about how glad we are that our beloveds are much more into mornings than we are, because otherwise, we don’t know how our dogs would get a chance to make their first poops at a reasonable enough hour.  You follow?  I hope I’m making sense…

Soooooo… I was curious… and this is a just a fun little question that you can answer if you want to…

QUESTION:

Do you find that there’s something about your sweetheart that you treasure, and that you don’t necessarily have, yourself?

Happy weekend, friendlies!  Have any plans?  I’d love to hear ‘em.

xoxo!  – Alison

Oh my goodness, the saying is you turn off a part of your brain once you get married cause they are really good at certain things while you’re not, and vise versa! He is waaaay better at numbers so as much as he hates it, someones gotta stay on top of our budget so I don’t end up buying every pair of Jimmy Choo or Louboutin I try on. :)

LMAO! That conversation sounds familiar. And although sometimes it is great to have different strengths…. When on vacation and the morning person is having to wait F-O-R-E-V-E-R for the not -so-into-mornings person to wake up…. It can be quite annoying!

Having seen your Tweet, I rushed over for my promised (and teased) Boob shot, only to find a Anthony Wiener angled, T-Shirt covered, semi bump.
This, Ladies and Gents is how to get hits false advertisement style! From a male perspective a “unintentional Tit Shot” MUST include some cleavage.
Because I feel so cheated I will not answer your question, though it is a good one.

Mr Frostings – Earl! Ohhhhh Earl, Earl, Earl. May I first thank you for so intricately describing my lady lumps with such precision with regard to their disappointing-ness. Second, I took lead-ins 101, and everybody knows sex sells. Will I stop? NEVER. Never I say to you! Neverrrrrrrrrr.

Third – and I shouldn’t even have to SAY this, but Prince McPuppyPants is waiting on you for his walk. Yet, I don’t see you, Mr Knottyfrostings, ANYWHERE IN THE VICINITY. What’s your explanation. And no, living in California is not an excuse. It’s a simple 6 hour trip, back and forth.

If I promise to always eat mai veggies, cans I has a cone? LOVE it. I mean, honestly…I’d totally go for the backyardigans feel. Plus, my bestie makes strawberry jam :) Sooo…now I’m on the hunt for a groom.

    I <3 Huggers – and I care not about the boob-shot.

My plans for the festive weekend include: Mega sleeps with Mocha and Kittons (16yr old cat), book reading, popcorn eating, and writing the inagural edition of "The Bee Cave Bark," the weekly dog park newsletter I've been volun-told to do. Oh, and tossin' in some job applications to keep it real. Enjoy yourself and don't let Bambeeneruni get eskeerd o' dem fireworks.

My honey has a great relationship with his family: he’s just a kind guy in general, wish I wasn’t such a B to mine. They pretty much deserve it most of the time, but hey – whattareyagonnado? I would rather be remembered as being kind than… You know, the alternative.

My fiance is SO much better at creative writing than I am. He’s an amazing poet, participates in the local poetry community and is always there for me when I need to add a little oomph to my writing. I worry about our wedding vows where his will be all flowy and lovey where mine will be very well…not, but might sound something like this, “Hey, I love you more than anything and I’m totally not sick of you yet, so let’s get hitched.” PS- Bambino has a face that always makes my day with a little added cuteness.

    Candice – ;) xx

Mimi – :) And thanks for the boob comment – glad I don’t have to go capturing some full frontals to appease the masses. ;)

Kristen – Awww! I love that your fiance’s got a way with words! Ooohh what I would give to witness those vows! And don’t fret; you’ll definitely come up with something lovely. We always do, when we need to. :)

You misunderstand! The quantity of boobage is perfect, it’s the quality of photography that was lacking. Great shot of the Prince, but disappointing in lack of skin available to the viewer!
    Hahaha!!!
You know that it was the promise, unfulfilled, that was shocking. You always deliver great content!
As far as your question. It’s something I think about often, being married to Leslie.
She is so artistic, and has an artist’s view of life. I am more the OCD, pragmatic, businessman type. I look at everything with an eye searching for improvement. She’s a mess, and I’m a neat freak. I do the laundry because she sucks at it. We are not only the Brady Bunch with our blended family, but we are also the Odd Couple. We are honestly two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly to form a whole.
Our differences are a constant reminder that we are each better together than we could ever be alone. I love her for all the things she’s not, as I love her for all the things she is.

Earl (Mr Frostings) – Like I told you on Twitter, that is *the sweetest* stuff. We all have our faults, and it’s so fun to hear, especially from a man on occasion here on TKB, how faults are just as lovable as strengths. :)

Chrissy – BAHA! I love that your face is loving it.

Nicole – awwww! Happy b-day to your fiance!!!!

Seriously? My OH is well and truly my better half. He has all the mathey skillz that I really lack, and the people skillz, and the houseworkey skills and, well, most of the skills people need in life, whereas I am just too damn lazy! But we don’t tell him that, or he might realise and run away!

These comments are great! I guess the main thing to remember is that you love each other for your differences and because you compliment each other. I know I’d scream if I married someone who was just like me! Part of a successful marriage is having your own lives!

    Happy Fourth of July! ♥

I’d love to answer your question, but I’m not married yet… so does a boyfriend count? Hah! :P

Anyway, those paper cups with the stars are super cute! I had to make do with a white paper cup and just used red and blue craft tape so they’ll have their pretty stripes.

Ooh, I love the red and light blue thing! I know already that I’ll need to incorporate blue as one of the colors to accommodate my brother’s Marine Corps Dress Blues. Since red and blue are Boyfriend’s favorite colors, maybe using them would help him feel more connected to the whole thing. You know. Once we’re planning. And light blue keeps it from being too…”AMURRCA!” which is nice.

What does he have that I don’t? Stubbornness. That can sometimes be annoying, but really, I love how he never gives up on anything, and he makes it really hard for me to give up on something! I love how driven he is and how it affects me.

    I’m in HEAVEN.

As for John’s special skills, I’m envious of his ability to stay calm, and so grateful that I have him around. Because I get into an airport or boat or bus and can feel my heart thumping out of my chest with all the people milling around, and when he takes my hand, it’s like he transfers a little crazy out of my body. Thank goodness.

I have to say that the dog is definitely the show stealer of this photo shoot. In any case, happy fourth of July to everyone out there. This is a kind of spread that definitely reflects the holiday.
