RUSTIC OUTDOOR DESSERT SHOOT, or, “I CAN DIE NOW.” | This is what I imagine when I imagine a good time. Also, only thing that cures my headaches is LOL cats & dogs.

*faints*

Happy Thursday afternoon, lovahs!  I’m starting this baby off with kind of a serious question for youz guyz.  We get a derriereload of reader email requesting advice regarding relationship/wedding shenanigans, and we typically answer them privately.  Howevs, given the feedback to our occasional ‘Ask TKB’ posts, we’re feeling like you might want to see more of that…?  True, this is?  Is the force strong, in these posts?  Your answer, we would love to hear.  Ok, on, we’re moving…

I woke up this morning feeling like complete S***.  If you took “feeling great,” and put it next to “me,” you’d find two dissimilar things by a factor of infinite.  Headache inside of my eyes (inside. of my EYES.), nausea, just good ol’ crap.  And so I called Honey, naturally, to complain.  He started off by feeling bad for me, and then finished strong with a reference to the fact that we need to stop putting off training Bambino to fetch coffee for me in the mornings.  He then said some cute things, in the voice of Bambo, that I won’t repeat because the sheer mention of the fact that he said cute things is embarrassment enough.  But there’s a higher reason for mentioning it, other than to embarrass Honey, and that is to tell you how helpful it can be to talk to someone about something you’re going through, no matter who it is.  It can actually serve to make you laugh, even when you’re hurting.  Which is just so awesome, amirite?  So, on that note, I just wanted to share with you some things that made me laugh recently, puppy-style.  And then we’ll move onto bigger and better things, such as but not limited to this AMAZEBALLS WEDDING INSPIRATION FIASCO.

So, I deliver to you my own personal compilation of lmfao, made from some of my faves a la icanhascheezburger.com; a fine, high brow site that you’ve obviously by now heard of.

Yes, that’s Bambino in there, too.  Taken during that hurricane we had that was way too overblown and sensationalized by the media and therefore instilled fear in everyone’s eyes and bodies.  The pic was taken to assure Bambo’s grandpa and grandma that all was well in the Knotty household, despite the aggressive drizzling and crazy swift 3 mile per hour wind speeds.

Anywhooooooo.  So yeah, a little Honey and puppy humor (plus COFFEE) helped me to recover pretty fast from that headache/nausea b!otchness that invaded my system this morning.  Now, of course, all I actually had to do was look at this WEDDING INSPIRATION KILLERNESS, submitted by the fabulous and megatalented Jeray and Kim Weddings, because holy moly does it cure all that fall within the perimeter of its brilliance and wonder.

First, check out what Kim of Jeray and Kim Weddings shared with us about the shoot:

The couple are a real bride and groom. Their names are Paul and Ashley.  I shot their wedding and they wanted to do a fun “after wedding” shoot.  We shot up in the Wrightwood, California area during the evening when the lighting was perfect.  Collette sent the bride a questionnaire that helped her pick the color scheme and style that the bride would like.  Collette set up different shooting “stations” before our shoot so things would go as quickly and smoothly as possible.  The couple was thrilled with their photos and they loved that they ended up with something completely different from their urban themed wedding.

And here are some words from stylist Collette Budd, of Brier Rose Design:

I was inspired by the stark contrast of the colors red and teal. Red automatically takes me to a candy sweet vintage vibe. A bit Moulin Rouge reminiscent. Thus came the sweetness, I wanted to incorporate a decadent bliss with desserts and the couple frolicking in the woods.
With every shoot or event that I style I use something refurbished, recycled, upcycled, “vintage” or antique. I would advise all brides to incorporate this into their style and design as it adds such a depth of character.
My favorite detail of this shoot was the usage of vintage music sheets in subtle continuity : on the delicate bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, invitation and as utensil holder for the table setting. As well as the recycled flower filled strawberry basket favors.

Ok, time to eat up!

I don’t know what it is about handheld food stuffs in shoots.  But I just can’t get enough.

Ummm.  what in the heck just happened up there, because I’m feeling a little lightheaded.  Last thing I remember seeing was gorgeous outdoor wedding inspiration, too brilliant and bright and beautiful for the human eye, weak as it is, to handle without blacking out.

Ok, SO!  Kindly lemme know your thoughts on the advice column posts question I posed at the tippy top of this post, if you would.  Please.  Thanksicles. :)

Aaaaaaaand how ’bout this freaking inspiration shoot, eh?  Dying, is what I’m doing, over it.  It’s up there as one of my absolute FAVORITES EVAH.  What think you?

And are you as fiendish when it comes to dessert shots?  I can’t figure it out, but I NEED THEM.

xoxo!  -Alison

I would love to read your “Ask TKB” responses/advice column. I think that there’s always one other person (or 100) going through the same thing as another reader and it’d be a great way to share experience or advice with one another.

    PS…loving LOLcats and LOLdogs.

PPS…who doesn’t love dessert? or dessert shots?

Oh dear, swoon is right. This shoot is simply stunning. This style is so vintage and retro chic! I would add some paper drinking straws and it’s totally like a dessert fantasy.

I’m going to have to stop visiting here if you continue to share these beautiful little bits of magic with sparkly ribbon and red velvet cake and gorgeous people in flattering poses. Also, if you ever stop with the adorable animals in one form or another.

In other commenting news, I would very much like to see a little more Ask TKB, since asking you stuff and getting your answers is really the highlight of each and every day.

Holy Lord above this shoot is phenomenal! Every day that I visit your blog I know I’m in for something incredible, but this? You give me scrumptious cake with SHIMMERING fruit, SHIMMERING ribbon, and a beautiful couple to celebrate it all? And funny animals. This is exactly why I love this blog so much. :-)

I say ‘Yes’ about reader advice, becuz I’m sure I’ll learn a thing or two about all this wedding planning I’m trying to do AND I have several questions of my own!!!! Lots of love!

Oh, yes. That cats + dogs email makes me laugh. Loudly.

What a charming shoot! I adore the sparkly ribbon, that teeny tiny cake, and the usage of the sheet music. Now where’s the champagne?

I seriously knocked over a bunch of beakers reading this post… (the only reason I have ever come up with why I shouldn’t be reading this blog in the lab)… But seriously: “Imma boop you”….

In regards to advice column: YES PLEASE! It would be great to spread the love with all the advice, and there’s nothing more universal within humanity than emotion and deranged family issues. :)

I die! Love each and every thing about the shoot, especially the color palette and the red velvet cake from Target bakery (pretty sure). OMG, how sad is it that I know that about the cake just from the visual? Anyhoo, my fave of the shoot is the bouquet. I love the real flower and handmade pieces put together.

As for the advice, I think it’s a good idea. There is something healing and inspiring about people going through the same issues. Just be sure to get all of that disclaimer stuff squared away, but you know that already I’m sure. ;)

Ok, so it’s about time I leave a comment here since I have been loyally stalking TKB for a while now. Everyday I think I’ve read your best post yet and then I read the next one and then it happens again! Thanks for making me laugh everyday and even Sweetheart (my honey) knows who Bambino McPuppy Pants is! (English is his second language so every time I say Bambo’s name he is really impressed that a dog can have such a name.) I could confess more love to you, Bam and your readers (seriously, it’s a toss up for who makes me laugh more, Alison or readers, you people make the best comments ever!) but I think it’s getting a little creepy over here!
ANYWAYS…Love today’s post, I had to eat something sweet to get through it, and it was so worth it! Yes please on the TKB advice!
P.S. Fav comment of day goes the Jackie, with “you had me at sparkly teal spoon ribbon”. LOL and I totally agree.
