GUEST BLOGGER | ‘Postcards and Pretties’ | City vs. Country Weddings!

Hello Knotty readers… I’m Chris from Postcards and Pretties and I’m so honored to be a guest blogger on The Knotty Bride!  Today I would like to share with you two completely different weddings that share a similar color palette of magenta and gray.

The first wedding takes place in New York City {representin’ Alison’s hometown} possibly a city hall wedding with a small reception to follow with a few family and friends.  Centerpieces of potted orchids decorate an airy space and in lieu of a traditional wedding cake… pink frosted cupcakes are served to the guests.

City Board: couple on the bridge {simply bloom photography} piano {this is glamorous} escort cards {martha stewart weddings} bouquet {the knot} orchid centerpiece {martha stewart weddings} chalkboard {design sponge} pink cocktails {martha stewart weddings} white utencils and tufted couch {this is glamorous} hydrangea centerpiece {brides} cupcakes {my little things}

The country wedding is sweet and a bit rustic.  A garden shed makes a great backdrop for this outdoor wedding that is surrounded by potted flowers.  Bridesmaids will hold hand-tied bouquets wrapped with magenta ribbon and pashmina wraps are available to keep the chilly air at bay.  The homemade cake is as simple as this wedding.

Country Board: greenhouse {country living} bride {d magazine} garden utencils {kiss the groom} ice cream {tartelette} potted plants {martha stewart} peony bouquet {poppies and posies events} cake {oh joy} bouquet wrapped with velvet ribbon {country living} violets {martha stewart weddings}

So tell me: what are your thoughts on these two distinct settings?  What would you say is more your style?  I’d love to know!

xoxo!  -Chris of Postcards and Pretties

GUEST BLOGGER | ‘Engaged and Inspired’ | Wedding Theme Inspiration: Board Game Roundup!

What would we do without Alison of The Knotty Bride?  Who knows!  She is one of the best bloggers out there for sure.  Well, hopefully while she is out of town, my fabulous ideas and inspiration will suffice for the time being.  I’m Allison from Engaged and Inspired bringing you some fantastically cute themed weddings which I am oh so jealous of!

Taking on a theme is rather challenging because the couple has to pick something they love, but not make it cheesy!  These weddings get uber brownie points for creativity.  Taking a theme and making it chic and modern is such an incredible venture and when it is done right, it’s major wedding eye candy.

Scrabble is such a darling concept for a wedding.  Really anything can be done when you get to put together little wooden tiles and make them say anything you want.

People make the most fascinating and creative little additions such as those amazing scrabble pillows, which make doing a theme wedding that much more modern and creative.

BREAKING NEWS ❦ Calling All Wedding Vendors ❦ TKB Is Now Welcoming Sponsors!

There’s been a lot of news around these parts as of late.  Here’s some more…

I am pleased to announce that The Knotty Bride is now welcoming sponsors and other forms of advertising on the blog!  TKB has grown by leaps and bounds since its relatively recent inception in October of 2009, thanks to brides, wedding professionals, event planners, fantastic fellow bloggers and men and women everywhere planning special events of their own.

Readership continues to grow exponentially… I nearly pee my pants and call my mama every time I look at the daily traffic totals.  Plus, the feedback I receive every day re: the ideas, inspiration and advice I post on TKB brings me the kind of immense, incomprehensible joy that can be likened only to that which is felt when a baby is born, or after finding out at the register that the dress you thought was on sale for $149.50 is actually on sale for $69.50, but was for some reason not marked as such!  Or some other miraculous event – you get it.

So…

If you are interested in advertising on The Knotty Bride and you offer a product or service that you think would be relevant to this audience, I’d love to hear from you.  Please email theknottybride@gmail.com (subject: “advertising”) for information.

Thanks, I look forward to working with you!

Coming up…

Remember when I said this yesterday? –> “Having a fit over my blog post for tomorrow.  An absolute, full-out, twitching, jump up and down fit.”

That’s up next, BOYYYYEEEE.

INSPIRATION BOARD LOVE | “Really Ridiculous” Wedding Eye Candy. Oh How I ♡ All of These…

During a sweet little stroll through Style Me Pretty’s Style Circle, I found what my little brother commonly refers to as “really ridiculous.” Roughly translated from guyspeak, really ridiculous is defined as anything that is overwhelmingly beautiful and/or ornate… almost over the top, but not… just perfectly stunning to the fullest.  Ok, that’s my best adaptation of his phrase to the world of wedding inspiration.  If you haven’t deduced it yet, my brother employs the phrase in reference to women. ;)

Quick note and useful tip: all of these boards were created using Style Me Pretty’s inspiration board maker.  If you’ve never used it, I URGE you to give it a try.  Especially if you’ve got some wedding planning to do.  It’s a great tool for any bride looking to work out her color palette, or just explore her options.

And now for my finds:

Love.love.love. these shoes.  Love them.

Top 3 shoes

Like those silver stunners in the lower left, up above?  Here they are again, within a black and white wedding palette.  Not too shabby AT ALL.

It's Black and White

I adore the idea of putting all of your bridesmaids in the same exact heel… as long as that heel has its own very unique or playful style, like the polka dot pumps, below!  Such a fab way to jazz things up and have a little fun.

Black and White Affair

OBSESSED with the next three.

Owl & Pussycat

Soft & Romantic

By the way, you see that darling couple in the board above, in the middle, to the left?  Their wedding was AH.MA.ZING.  Check it out.

The little girl in me loves this board so much she wants to live in it.

Sweet Sakura

This one, too.

little button flowers

Best thing about this board: the Charlie’s Angels pose, with bouquets standing in for firearms.  Truly making peace, not war with this shot.  ;)

Young at Heart

I just really love horses.  And cowboy boots.  And stylish beverage glasses.  And this board:

Country Wedding

There’s a soft, mysterious beauty to this last board that I cannot get past.  My eyes are glued to it.

Bohemia

Wait, do the horses wish they were eagles?  All of them a collective eagle?  I don’t get it, but I luuuurve the rest of this board, so who cares.  (But I really don’t get that.  Anyone?  Am I just being dense?)

In other news… CANNOT WAIT to attend Wedding Salon this evening!  I’m so freakin’ excited over the eye candy and inspiration that awaits me at this fabulous event.  Gonna be insane in the membrane.

… In a very appropriate, reserved and well-mannered kind of way.

Woot!

INSPIRATION BOARD LOVE ♡ Crystal’s “Summertime Fun” on Style Me Pretty!

In lust with this cheery board created by Crystal Cook, a Style Circle member on Style Me Pretty.  The balloons were what caught my eye, but I stuck around for the desserts, mini pinwheels and general Summertime appeal!  Seriously, how lovely is this?!!

The weather here in NY today is fanfreakintastic.  I made sure to take a long walk outside and oh me oh my, HOW SWEET IT IS.  Get outside if you live in the metropolitan area, or wherever else the sun is shining warm and bright.  It feels like Summer out there!!

It’s supposed to be this gorgeous out tomorrow, too, and then things are expected to come to a screeching halt by Thursday.  Which is fabulous.

Go.  Frolic or something.  It’s Summertime in April… for a second.
