Welcome to The Knotty Bride! It's good to see you.

FOURTH OF JULY | wedding and event inspiration | You asked for it…

Aaaaaand…  I’m back!  Did you miss me?  (:

{Photos: Stephanie Williams}

First things first: let me extend the heartiest of hearty thank yous to my lovely guest bloggers for taking the reigns in such unique and fabulous ways.  I’m forever grateful for your amazing contributions over the last few days!  Superb jobs done by all!  And thanks for showing your love and support, my dear readers!  I’m so glad you enjoyed their posts!

Now, I won’t lie; the time we got to spend away from all the hoopla this weekend was supa fly – supa dupa fly – and very much needed… We had the GREATEST TIME EVER IN THE HISTORY OF TIMES HAD, and we’ll never forget it.  GO VACATIONS, with your bad selves!  Ok, anyway, July 4th is on Sunday, and I’m pretty certain that a handful of you decided to hold your wedding celebration on said day.  (Congratulations, by the way!)  And I have absolutely no doubt that a considerable sum of you are throwing Independence Day festivities of some kind for your friends and family.  So, I did a quick poll on Twitter to see if you guys would like to see a mash-up of Fourth of July wedding inspiration, for sprinkles and giggles.

Well, actually, first the boy and I went outside and lit some fireworks in the backyard, to get stoked for this post (because it hasn’t felt like July 4th weekend is around the corner, so we needed to pyro it up to get in the spirit).  THEN I did a quick poll.  And you WENT CRAZY.  Even my girl Sofia representin’ Portugal (where, duhh, they don’t celebrate this holiday) tweeted in support of this post.  So even though we’re kind of right up against the July 4th weekend and I hope NONE OF YOU are actually still planning last minute details for a wedding celebration a few days away (because that would be insane and totally overwhelming), I’ve compiled a bit of a July 4th visual hors d’oeuvres plate for your tasting pleasure.  It’s not straight-up Fourth ‘o’ July fodder, because honestly, I don’t necessarily adore straight-up Fourth ‘o’ July party design.  What do I adore?  Red, white and blue toned weddings that just happen to be great sources of inspiration for the holiday in question.   Let’s begin with this fantastic red, white and blue wedding cake, which was photographed by the amazing Leigh Miller, and featured on Leila Kahlil’s blog, Inspired by This:

Speaking of Leigh Miller, I came across some serious red, white and blue inspiration over where her work resides.  In the process, I fell in lust with Katie & Preston’s wedding at the Condor’s Nest Ranch…

Yup, that there’s a good ol’ American flag in the distance.  That’s first rate July 4th inspiration.  You’re welcome.

A little red, white and blue dessert table never hurt anybody.  And this one’s perfect.

I especially love the napkin in the upper left corner because it reminds me of the Karate Kid.

A whole other blue shoe!  She’s blowing my mind!

A hankie makes the loveliest of accents.  I adore the way hers matches her shoes.

Blue labeled beer bottles!  Genuis.

And this last one has zip, zilch, nada to do with July 4th.  But I’m on a bit of a chalkboard and mustache kick like the rest of the world, so here’s this:

Can’t get enough?  You can check out the the rest of Katie and Preston’s amazing day here and here over on photographer Leigh Miller’s blog!

So tell me, what do you think of a red, white and blue affair?  Do you believe the color combination is best left for a July 4th celebration, or should brides go wild with the colors whenever they wish?  Chime in, peeps… I’m super curious what you think!

xoxo!  -Alison

(Happy to be back blogging it up with you guys!  Truly!)

Hey Alison, lovely lovely! This shade of blue is ravishing! Going with a red white and blue color scheme for a 4th of July celebration is certainly worth considering. This photo shoot will be a wonderful inspiration to everyone on how to do it with heart, and in style.

I love red, white and blue weddings in general – you could even add your own twist to things and use different tones so it's not so apparent. Like pastels or something – pinkish red, light blue and white – that would be pretty! I love love love the 4th of July :)

[...] Check out the rest of my Fourth of July wedding inspiration finds over on the blog!  I kind of can’t stand straight-up July 4th fodder, so I limited the finds to chic, stylish soft tones of red, white and blue.  This is the way to do it, peoples. [...]

I think Red, White and Blue is super classic and can be stunning but there is a fine line between fab and tacky. This couple nailed it. Love every little detail!

I did! I did miss you! But you made you absence (just barely) bearable by preparing a veritable all-star cast of fantastic guest posters, so I begrudgingly forgive you. But don't ever leave us again. The internet is a cold, dark, scary place without you.

Great finds! I can't stop looking at those invitations. Or the hanky. Or that cake full of yummy craziness.

That is the best cake ever!!! And the Red, White, And Blue is so modern. Nice way to show that Red, White and Blue doesn't have to mean picnic.
