I’M OBSESSED… | This Sale On All The Things I Didn’t Know I Wanted For The Holidays

pretty-holiday-gifts-for-christmas-2013

Found this little sale going on at West Elm on everything from monogramming to gold flatware this week and I fell in love.  I usually don’t fall in love with sales.

But when free monogramming is involved and it’s not cheesy, I-look-like-a-self-absorbed-little-fuck type monogramming, but instead pretty simple lettering that adds some attractive umph to the item, I’m all for it.  Which essentially means this is the first time I’ve ever been for it.  Makes a great gift for your bridesmaids in my opinion – or for yourself because we all deserve a little reward now and then, yes?  The answer is yes STOP PUNISHING YOURSELF.

Btw- I feel shameful about this but I am still hopelessly into little arrows and a touch of golden trim and shit like that.  I try to limit my purchasing of these things because I’m trying to avoid looking like someone on Princesses Long Island.  You have to admit though all the stuff below is just too cute to ignore.

For example…

This metal-wrapped wood tray, $59:

This metallic case, $9:

west elm metallic zipper case

west elm metallic zipper case silver gold

This little leather case, $34:

(except the mustache one – ENOUGH with the mustaches)

leather zipper case small - west elm

west elm leather zipped case monogrammed arrows 2

Comes in small, medium and large, $24 – $49

west elm leather zipped case monogrammed arrows 3

This tray, $29 – $34:

This jewelry box, $59:

rustic wood monogrammed jewelry box

This jewelry box, too, $24 – $49:

mirrored monogram jewelry box west elm

The snowflake stocking, $24:

west elm monogrammed felt snowflake stocking 2

This ipad case, $34:

baggu dipped ipad case 2

And the rest of the Baggu Bag Collection – Navy + Gold, $34 – $99:

Baggu Bag Collection - Navy + Gold

p.s. – I also love some things that are regrettably not monogrammable but I just had to include in this post:

_west-elm-gold-flatware-and-wood-and-white-utensils

this wireless bamboo keyboard, $69 // these color blocked utensils, $8 – $12 / this gold flatware, $23 – $84

gold serving set, $23 // gold cheese knives, $23

So guys, am I just smitten because they happened to burn my actual name into a lot of these things, or are these actually really fun and happifying-to-look-at additions to a lady’s wardrobe and daily life?

I have a personal post coming up, it’s taken me only a thousand years to finish it so I’m sure that’s not weird.  That’s not weird, right?

I missed you guys.

DIY + UNIQUE PROPOSAL + PUPPY | White & Gold Fringed Party Poms by Renee, A Day in the Life of Bambino, & A Must-See Stop Motion Proposal Video!

I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but it’s the holiday season.  And everyone knows that the holiday season is made up of three main things besides the thing where you have to sort through the office politics of who gets to take Christmas eve/Christmas day off, and that’s:

  1. generous gift-giving,
  2. the opportunity to spend time with extended family whether or not you’re interested in that, and
  3. soundless intercourse in upstairs childhood bedrooms on the DL.  Some might call this disgusting but it is technically *fetish-adjacent* and not a full-fledged fetish, and therefore within the realm of acceptable human sexual desire.  So you’re safe.

But we’ll focus on #1 for today (sorry, I know #3′s the coolest one, but {Continue reading…}

DECOR INSPIRATION LOVE | Round-up of super stylish and crazy creative tabletop looks and ideas for your holiday wedding or affair!

My sister and her family are in town for the holidays, and that means a lot of fort building and high tea.  Which is awesome, but has a way of making me feel extra guilty about working all day, with them staring at me, longing for a few extra hours of playtime.  They do that; they stare at me, not trying {Continue reading…}

FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS™ HOLIDAY EDITION | Felt garland, a sparkly dress I must have for a party next week, frosted gingerbread treats, DIY holiday postcards and tags…

I know, so cute!

A few quick notes before I get to the pretty stuff:

Today’s the last day to enter the free wedding photography giveaway by Gem Photo.  So, if you haven’t submitted your entry yet, I, uhh… I suggest you, uhh, get on that straight away.  Click here to find out more!

Vendor Love launched on Wednesday, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!  We’ve received incredible feedback about it, beyond-our-over-achieving-dreams-feedback, and we’re thrilled so many of you beautiful brides out there love it so much!  One could say that our goal is to be a bit like a dating site for brides and wedding vendors, creating ideal matches between brides and vendors, except without the high sex-on-the-first-date frequency.  So far, we’ve kept one-night-stands to a minimum, so we’re pretty thrilled about that! ;)  But seriously, we’re beyond glad everyone’s finding it so useful and easy to navigate, and just plain loving it so much (we do try to read all of your emails and tweets, we’re slowly but surely making our way through it all, so thank you EVERYONE for writing!).  Our vendors already started getting countless inquiries within the first 24 hours (!!!) of the launch, so we’re pretty freakin’ excited about that, obvs.

Brides: we’ll be continually adding vendors to the guide, so keep checking back for even more insane talent!

Ok, on to my holiday finds from around the interweb!

That adorable tray of cheery gingerbread cookies is from Ikea’s 140-page coffee table book, “Hembakat är Bäst” – which means “Homemade is Best.”  Styling by Evelina Bratellshot; photographed by Carl Kleiner; via Lushlee.

J’adore the sparkle factor below, ladies.  Smells like pretty.

Perfect for NYE, if you’re willing to freeze your nips off.

Really digging this felt ball garland project from Jordan Ferney’s Oh Happy Day!  I knew felt had its uses, but I didn’t know it could look this chic.

Loooooving these hot cocoa ornament favors from Austin Wedding Blog.  Of course, I heart anything involving cocoa, so I’m biased.

Ok, that’s a wrap… for now.  Of course, there are approximately a LOT more of these awesome bits and pieces all over the web this time of year.  I just thought I’d gather up some of my absolute favorites for you guys to check out.  I’m dying to know what you think?  So, what think you?

Another thing I’m dying to know; what are your holiday plans?  Family, friends, parties… what are you guys up to this season?

Hope you’re having a happy Friday, friendlies!

xoxo!  – Alison

GIFTS I COVET | This Girl Wants These Gifts. You Will, Too.

Hey everybody, hope the holidays are treating you well this year.  With Christmas days away, unless you have car (not the case for a city-dweller like me), I’m not so sure you’ll be able to grab these gifts in time.  But here’s the thing, and let’s be honest with ourselves… we’ll probably just want to get these goodies for our own personal use.  Am I right or am I right?  And I wouldn’t give myself a hard time if I got myself a belated gift.  Would you?

Most of these gifts I caught wind of either through friends, family, People, or the good ol’ boob tube.  I found the following items to be my absolute faves, and I think you’ll like them, too.  If you’d like to get your hands on any of these products, the links to where you can find them immediately follow each image.  Hurry though; each of these items is still in stock presently, but of course there’s no way I can promise they’ll still be available in the minutes after I post this!

HOLIDAY FAVES LOVE | dreamy diys + pretty printables + awe-inspiring images | Heavenly Holiday Decor + Gift Packaging Perfection = My Happiness

There are lots of reasons why the holidays are one of my favorite times of the year, but ranking high among them are the following two:

~ dreamy and delightful holiday decor

~ pretty packaging perfection by incredibly creative crafters

Combine those two with my absolute favorite thing in general and of all time – photography – and you get marvelous, breathtakingly beautiful things… wondrous things that never cease to amaze me, no matter how many times or however long I stare at them.  Here are several examples of that magic, created by some of the greatest triple threats around.  Click on the links announcing each set to visit each artist’s space on the web (Flickr pages or personal weblogs).
