Hello and happy Monday afternoon, my loves! Ok here’s wussup. I’ve been going back and forth on a certain little issue in my own little world, and I can just never decide which way to go. It’s got to do veth zee dressenhagens.
Happy Friday evening, friends! It is good to be back home from ma travels, and I have a double feature-ish situation thingie going on today for ya eyeballs. The second half of this post is a killer wedding, and you’re more than welcomed to skip to that if all you want is some visual candy. All good in the hood by me. I’m actually psyched for you to see it, and I’m dying to know what you think of it all. The first part of the post, however, is a personal story about what happened while I was traveling back home from Las Vegas (does that translate to ‘land of virgins’ or is it ‘many vajayjays?’ sorry… I don’t speak Spanish) to nyc this week. I was seated next to a father and his 11-year-old son. The boy’s father, divorced, shared unique lessons about marriage with his son; lessons I wasn’t expecting. Of course, it had to be blogged, and today is when it’s happening. I’m hoping to hear your thoughts and if you think I’m crazy for having the reaction I did/do.
(Quick note: when you get to the wedding part of this post, please make sure you’re in an enclosed space, like a small closet or parked car or possibly swaddled a bassinet, because this feature is going to blow your face off and I’m concerned about you losing track of your face.)

Hellllloooooo, lovelies! How goes it? … Good, good that’s good. Uhhh so HEY, hey…. you…. pssssst…… you…. yeah, you, over there…. hey you wanna see a wedding?
AWESOME. I mean really? REALLY?! Ohhhh man, that’s awesome. Awesome awesome awesome because I got one. So this is PERFECT. Man I’m, I’m just so glad you said so! This really worked out well. Also, I think this means we’re besties now…? Also also, I’ll be turning in my Not Yet 100% Ridiculous membership card later. Because all of that-ness that just went on earlier in the paragraph was just RIDIC ulous. I’m worried though that they might not have alumni pins for when you’re out of the NY100%A club, because they probably don’t want to be associated with the people who aren’t in it anymore… seeing as we’re weird in a weird way now, instead of a cute way. … Yeah. Dang.

Happy Friday afternoon, bubelahs! Welcome to post number two today.
Now, I know you’re looking at those mint dresses and the ruffly shoes and everything and you’re probably thinking, “whoa, this wedding is Alison’s baaaag. She is probably freaking. out. over this wedding. Crap, I bet this is going to be the longest post in the history of Alison posts!”
And yes normally that is how I would react to a wedding like this, and you are right to think I should have a lot of loving words to say about it. But the problem is, I find it incredibly hard to write and to orgasm at the same time, so I’m actually going to be keeping it quite brief, as posts go.

Happy Buyer’s Remorse Day! How did your shopping go? Did it go swimmingly? Oh, how did mine go? Aww, thanks for asking – here’s how it went: I stayed up ’til around 3am with Bambo sitting at my feet letting me know we should probably be heading to bed by staring at me with his “we should probably be heading to bed” face – actually here, see it for yourself:

↑ LOL. You can already tell I love this couple, right? :)
Happy Tuesday, friendlies! Hope you had a splendiferous Halloween night, with no surreal trips to the emergency room, no misplaced children and no tummy aches. If that’s the case, you’re doing quite well today. In other news, I have a stellar wedding to share with you, that does something only the best can do… and I can’t even BEGIN to tell you how much I adore it…

check it out. check out that swagger up top. almost as much swagger as this duck has.
not as much; almost.
FYI, I love this wedding, and I really think you’re gonna love it, too. For starters, it’s not the typical wedding I drop onto the internet’s face. It’s full of peacock feathers, button bouquets, lace and button boutonnieres, galoshes and just general DIY adorableness. What I’m excited about is that the bride is pretty hilarious, and her write-up is jam-packed with important details and advice. It is as refreshingly informative as it is amazeballsly amazeballs.
But before we get to that, I feel I should tell you something. Now, I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but {Continue reading…}

I have news. I now know what an earthquake feels like, since, as many of you know, one just happened along what seems to be the entire eastern seaboard, including parts of Canada. I’ve always wondered how I’d react in an earthquake situation, and I’m proud to say that I know the answer to that now. That is where the pride ends, though. Here’s what I did and thought as the eaaarth. mooooooved. undah-mah-feet:
What I did - remained still; looked Ames Shocked.
What I thought to myself - {Continue reading…}

Happy Tuesday afternoon, friends! All I have is this wedding’s cake display on my mind right now, but I’m trying to compose myself so wish me luck. So… hard… to… simma… down… nah…
Ok so AS PER USUAL I have a little aside before we get into it. It’s, umm, kinda unintentionally on a hella serious note, but since I just saw a “teaser” that reminded me of it all, I felt compelled to mention it here real quick-like, surprisingly at the outset of a beautiful wedding part two. Weird placement? Perhaps. But I just kinda feel like I need to say it, and then we’ll move right along. {Continue reading…}

Ok, crazy awesome wedding approaching at warp speed, however before we get into it, I must – MUST – relay a little anecdote from Thursday, if you don’t mind…
So, yesterday, while he was perusing the feedback on Rhi’s amazeballs guest post (y’all are so freakin’ supportive of each other! it’s bonkers!), Honey happened to notice a link nestled inside one of our newer commentor’s (thanks for the awesome comment, Katy!) comments. He was intrigued. {Continue reading…}

Because “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant: Baby in My Sweatpants” seemed like a show unbefitting of dinnertime programming, we watched the only other option our trusty little Tivo suggestions folder offered us, which turned out to be a couple of episodes from MTV’s “True Life” series. The series happens to be a tried and true favorite of mine, because it’s one of the few the only show on MTV that has real life relevance and teaches lessons.
So that said… today we’ve got a bit of a Smörgåsbord post for your faces. Woot, go Friday afternoon posts! Ok, first up, {Continue reading…}

As I sit here in the gorgeous afternoon sun, protected of course by window panes because I’m WORKING INDOORS, and tolerating the puffs of wind escaping Bambino’s behind as he slumbers on his day-pillow beneath my desk – puffs which, mind you, are as pungent as they are endless… I have this one thought floating around in my head, and it’s been there since Friday. And, because I care about all of you so, so much, I feel the need to warn you guys about it. {Continue reading…}

CHIC DIY WEDDING IDEAS ON A BUDGET | XOXO & Flag Cake Topper Set! | by The Inspired Bride
Hello everyone! My name is Maddy, and I write the wedding design blog the Inspired Bride. I’m really happy to help out Alison while she’s out of town.
There’s been a lot of conversations lately about styled shoots, and what’s really feasible for brides. I think as bloggers, it’s really easy for us to get caught up in “The Pretty”. I don’t exclude myself from this. As much as I love them and think they’re still completely relevant, styled shoots don’t have real world budgets and are often pretty tough to replicate {Continue reading…}

That title feels redundant.
Anyway… today, my friends, we have a twofer. Part I = a super neat, super simple DIY project from our resident DIY expert, Lauren of Lauren Elise Crafted! In Part II, yours truly will address that weird new fad thingie I mentioned on Twitter last night that I kinda sorta promised I’d address today on the blog and not chicken out on discussing, regardless of how aggressively incapable it is of being linked in any way to legit wedding content. (Wait, did I say incapable? BWAAAHAHAHAHAA! Because I linked it. See: The Knotty Challenge at the end of today’s post. BOOYAHKASHA.)
Ok, BUT. First things first: {Continue reading…}
