DIY ON A BUDGET: Bright, Glowy Light-Up Letters! | A Tutorial By Kindred

diy-wedding-project-inspiration-christmas-light-up-letter-monogram

Hi lovely readers!

Today we’re sharing a DIY that requires *drumroll*… fake greens!  Eeek!  What would invoke such a thing?!  Well, clearly, we’re usually the #1 advocates for using fresh greens whenever possible… but occasionally, just occasionally, fake greens’ll do the trick.  In this case, it’s for what could be a more permanent fixture… a piece to hang over the bed, over the guest signing table, in front of the wedding party reception table (yes, those last two weren’t necessarily permanent but they can then be reused!).  Of course, if you prefer, you can also do this with real greens, but for all you who are looking for a DIY that might last a little over a week, this one’s for you ;) {Continue reading…}

OMG, THIS GORGEOUS DIY BOHEMIAN DESERT WEDDING. | Elena + Tony | The Bird & The Bear

Honey and I ate a strawberry today that was so good, like it was so sugary and scrumptious, that we couldn’t even enjoy it for a second before jumping to conclusions about the strawberry being artificially flavored or genetically engineered to taste like that.  ”Probably added sugar to it. Bastards,” said Honey.  ”NO way is this naturally how a strawb (he calls them ‘strawbs’) would taste.”  Look at how jaded we’re getting, you guys.

I shared this anecdote with you not as a cry for help, but as a message to couples everywhere: this is how hard it’s become to genuinely impress us with a thing.

Enter, this wedding.

“ADULT ONLY” DIY RUSTIC SURF WEDDING (with succulents + surfboards): Randi & Jared Met While Working at a Surf Shop.. | Michelle Sullivan Photography

“So this is how the story goes…

Let’s start with the morning before the wedding. I was totally prepared. The last thing I needed to do was get a mani and pedi with my girls. I went to pick up my fiance’s sister first. She hops in the car and hands me a baby sippy cup, she has one for herself as well. My mind was already mush from all of the wedding planning so I didn’t question it. I start driving to our nail appointment and take a sip from my sippy cup at a red light.

Whataya know!!! It’s a margarita!”

… is how today’s bride, Randi, starts out her wedding story. So yes, I love this girl. Enjoy her wedding because I did to infinity and beyond.

PORTUGAL WEDDING WITH SUCCULENTS | … so it’s awesome. Plus: The Day I Realized Everyone Has Seen Me Naked. | By Brancoprata

“See me? my naked body??”

WHIMSICAL RUSTIC WEDDING | “The more your wedding reflects you as a couple, the more meaningful it will be to the people who share it with you.” By AE Pictures Inc.

Right from the moment my Pandora station spit out Gotye and then followed it with Ingrid Michaelson’s “Sort Of,” consecutively, I knew it was going to be a good day.

And then I thought to myself, “wow, this Pandora station is positively nailing my taste in music right now!”

And then I thought to myself, “I wonder what station this is!  Lemme see…”

And that’s when I realized I’d been listening to my iTunes playlist THE. WHOLE. TIME.  *mind blown up from stupidity*

Anyways, even though that really happened, I’m still having a great afternoon/evening, and I hope you are, too.  And if you’re not, I hope this wedding I’ve got here cheers ya right up.  And if you need a little extra cheering up, Bambino’s at the end of it all to push you over that cheer edge.  DOUBLE RAINBOW OF CHEER!!  all the way.  So intense.

COUNTRY RANCH ETSY WEDDING WITH SUCCULENTS + A TRAVELING GNOME? | Plus, a surprise holiday treat… :) | By Heather Scharf Photography

Happy late Thursday, my friends!  This post is wedding-centric in nature, so I do want to apologize if you were looking for something more “how do i secure my breasts so they stop bouncing”-oriented, as someone who visited the blog searched earlier today.

If you came here by searching “I’m trying not to fart so often,” well then… then I don’t really know what to say.  I’m not sur-I mean, maybe don’t eat things that do that to- actually, I really just……… best of luck.  Best of luck to you.

Ok, now to get to this post.   {Continue reading…}

DIY LOVE BIRDS VINTAGE WEDDING | Also, behold, why my position on The First Look Argument stands… | And, in unrelated celebrity news, how does his… fit into… HERS?

Oh, is it late afternoon already?  HAHAHAHAH, how interesting.  Time flies I guess when you’re mocking celebrities and arranging weddings.  Sigh.

Now, let it be known that I desperately wanted to title the tail end of this post “I like big d***s and I cannot lie,” but I thought it might, just might, be NSFW.  So I trashed it.  But it hurt to do it, so know that.  Speaking of hurting…  {Continue reading…}

Ok, crazy awesome wedding approaching at warp speed, however before we get into it, I must – MUST – relay a little anecdote from Thursday, if you don’t mind…

So, yesterday, while he was perusing the feedback on Rhi’s amazeballs guest post (y’all are so freakin’ supportive of each other!  it’s bonkers!), Honey happened to notice a link nestled inside one of our newer commentor’s (thanks for the awesome comment, Katy!) comments.  He was intrigued.  {Continue reading…}

WEDDING INSPIRATION LOVE | My Number 2 All Time Favorite Flower In the World for Wedding Bouquets, love bird love, lace wedding cake love… and your Friday Puppy.

SHARK WEEK!  WOOOooooOOOOOoooOOOO!  Nah, just kidding I couldn’t care less.  Hahaahaah.  Yeah.

Ok so here we go… happy Friday afternoon, friendlies!  How goes it?  Is it feelin’ hot hot hot where you are?  Because it’s 101 degrees of caliente here and so IT’S KIND OF A LITTLE INTENSE.  If I had alls-bay, they would probably be completely en fuego.  (Haha, I pig Latin’d balls, even though I unabashedly started out yesterday’s post with the very word in all its glory.  Hmph.  Odd.)  Anyway my focus is elsewhere, because our building sometimes *vibrates* for some unapparent and most likely harmful reason, however I’m sitting here in my vibrating chair and… not minding it so much?  In fact, I’m kind of enjoying it ifyaknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo.  Sing it with me… I’m pickin’ up goooood viiiiiibraaaaations.  Yeah ok I need some water; maybe that’ll get the crazy out.  I beg you to blame the heat for any further instances of crazy.  Ok?  Please?  I’m gonna go ahead and assume that you’re on board.  Great. {Continue reading…}

REAL WEDDING | A hail storm tried, and failed, to stop this wedding. In your FACE, Mother Nature. + Bambino :)

So, it’s Monday afternoon and I think it’s appropriate, first and foremost, to thank those of you who so kindly and perhaps a bit absent-mindedly predicted that I’d be raptured.  That was sweet of you, and I’m glad you think I’m angelic enough to go north instead of south.  To those of you who figured I wouldn’t be raptured, and cited blog posts asserting that fact (namely, my feelings on Hayden P.’s vahayhay, Meena), thank you, too, for predicting what is actually quite possibly much closer to the truth of what might have happened, should rapture fear mongers have been correct in their predictions.  Either way, I’m just glad I’m still around to blog, because OMIGOD, THIS WEDDING. {Continue reading…}

GUEST BLOGGER | A “Neutral Chic” wedding with POPS of color… and SUCCULENTS!! By Naomi of Enchanted Dream Weddings

When Alison asked me to be one of her guest bloggers while she’s away on holiday, I immediately said yes… then the panic set in.  Everyone reads The Knotty Bride; what could I possibly write to make it “knotty” enough?  Ah, then I thought, “I’ll do what I do best”…then I had to figure that out!  ;)

Of course, I immediately thought of wedding inspiration boards.  I love inspiration boards because they are the easiest way to reveal how colors will work together.  How many times has someone described to you a color palette and in your head it just did not come together, but, once you saw it on “paper,” you said “Wow!”  Trust me; it happens all the time.

FASHION for your HEALTH | your happiness and your look | Not Enough Sun in Your Life? Try Wearing it.

In her “Notes on Nursing: What It Is and What It Is Not,” English nurse Florence Nightingale wrote that light – preferably sunlight – plays an essential role in the process of getting well.  She also said that those of us who are ailing “should be able to see … sky and sunlight,” as she observed that most patients tended to lie with their faces turned towards the light, much in the way that “plants always make their way to the light.”

This is why doctors are always telling us to make sure we get enough Vitamin D.  Among its many purported health benefits, it is understood that the Vitamin D our body produces when our skin is exposed even to just a little bit of sunshine can actually make us feel better emotionally.  Which means it can literally and figuratively brighten our day!  That’s kind of awesome.

So, now that we know that sunlight is pretty important for our general well-being, it seems like it should be easy enough to get our hands on it – err, faces in it – right?  Just step into the light for 10-15 minutes and ta-da, you’ve got yourself enough rays for the day (well, health-wise; certainly not fun-wise).

Unfortunately, while at work, many of us do not have the privilege of being seated near south-facing windows, and still others have the misfortune of being caged inside of too-high cubicle walls, seemingly fated never to experience the touch and feel of daylight between the hours of 9am to 6pm.  (Which reminds me – when did the acceptable amount of hours in a typical work day go from 9 – 5 to 9 – 6?  When and WHY did this change?  Yes, I am asking you, The Man.)

Anyway… so what are we to do if we can’t spend some time outside, soaking up those warm winter rays?

Well, if you really don’t have any time at all to do it, then a) you’re being seriously overworked, and b) you might want to check with your doctor about alternative ways to get your daily dose – ’cause, for real, it’s important.

Beyond that, I’ve got some fashion advice: how about a fun, alternative way for you to get some light in your life?  While it won’t result in the production of Vitamin D, it will give you a seriously useful boost of confidence that should last well beyond sunset.  What is it?  Well, unless you’re interested in waking up at dawn to catch a few minutes of sunbeam satisfaction before you head off to work, I suggest dawning some glam threads that’ll serve to brighten your mood… not to mention many of those around you!  I love it when I see someone who has really put some effort into her look… especially if it’s on a day when I HAVEN’T!  :)

So, what to wear?  Today, I’ve gathered up a healthy mix of fun, shimmering, soft, chic and romantic looks for the flashion-obsessed bride!  Any sparkle or glow in your get-up will do; from a dress with lots of glitz, to a clutch that catches some serious light, to earrings that illuminate your immediate surroundings.  Whether you’re into a frock with some flash, or you prefer a soft, chic look that leaves the razzle-dazzle to a super accessory, it doesn’t matter… when you arrive at your bachelorette party in any one of these get-ups, you’ll look and feel hotter than each and every one of those girls on stage at your future hubby’s bach… I mean, any of those girls in their winter coats working the ski lifts at the lodge.  Because that’s where men go for bachelor parties; they go to ski lodges, and then they turn in early.  ;)

GIFT LOVE | Only Things I Like More Than Great Gift Ideas Are Great Gift Inspiration Boards…

These gift ideas caught my eye so firmly, that I just had to share.  Though I think my love for them is quite apparent, given the very crudely exacto’d page tears on the right side of each leaf.  Somehow, I need to learn an effective way to manage my excitement when I’m tearing that excitement out of somewhere and scanning it into somewhere else that the world is going to see.  Any suggestions on how to reconcile thrill and precision?

I will eagerly await your advice; in the meantime, delight in these very glam, very thoughtful gift ideas.  Perfect for the holidays, a bridal shower, your office’s secret Santa (does capitalizing his name mean I still believe?)… really, any opportunity you may have to present someone with a little bit of superb style.  Plus a little assistance for the man in your life…

By the way, I’m starting with my favorite item, the Banana Republic Viscose dress on the right – which, by the way, I CAN’T FIND ANYWHERE.  Even right when this issue of InStyle Weddings hit newsstands!  Anyone able to locate it?  Such a dreamy frock… I want to be wearing it right now.  And I want to be wearing it for my rehearsal dinner, too because it is SO RICHLY BEAUTIFUL.
