REAL E-SESSION + DIY WEDDING LOVE ❦ Stacey + Chris ❦ Anthro Inspired by Simply Bloom Photography

I dropped by Anthropologie two nights in a row last week, and while my wallet is pissed off, my hypothalamus is giving me a head massage.  It was exhilarating, like shopping so often is – especially since I never go shopping anymore (NO TIME).  I was like a squirrel but with clothes, storing up for the long, warm summer.  Pretty much everything that caught my eye went into my dressing room.  While in there, I happened to overhear a salesgirl kvetching to her coworker; “I can’t STAND IT when these people come IN HERE and pick up EVERYTHING IN THE STORE LIKE ANIMALS.  UGGGGHHH!”  For reasons not worth explaining, I know she wasn’t talking about me, but I also know she didn’t know I was in there, hence the uncensored and highly inappropriate discourse.  (I’m really stealth when I try on clothes.  You can hardly hear me.  Which means I’ve overheard a lot of conversations over time.  Let me tell you, what girls discuss in dressing rooms when they think no one is listening… it’s everything you ever thought it would be.)

Anywho – I bought way too much, but it’s all FABULOUS so I’m pouring over my finds to see if I can part with any of them.  So far, no dice.  I love them all very much.  So much, in fact, that I’m bringing you a wedding from the brilliant duo over at SimplyBloom that has Anthro touches in it!  Because I’m obsessed, you see.  Because I’m obsessed.

Ok, first, I HAVE to share with you a handful of gumballiscious engagement shots – same couple, different day of course.  I am dying over these.  How much better is eye candy when it’s actual candy?

And now, ladies and germs… feast your eyes on this.  It is one of the most lovely, romantic and smartly decorated affairs I have seen in my lifetime.  As I like to say starting today: delightful little details and a simple, calm color palette make for the dreamiest weddings around. :)

Ok, you know how much I love twine.  And cupcake wrappers are never, ever a bad thing.  Well, twine mated with cupcake wrappers at the hand of Stacey, the bride, to make what you see above and below.  THAT’S THEIR CEREMONY ARCH!  Be still my heart.

Check out the Anthro touches; charming rustic frames and candles, all part of the ceremony decor!

Here’s the bride on the arm of her brother!  This shot is a favorite of mine; how I love precious family moments. :)

Now, look at these reception details, people.  I hope you’re sitting down.  Make sure your boss is either cool or isn’t around, because you might want to stare like an idiot at these shots for a while:

See that darling cake?  It was baked by Chris’ sister.  Now THAT is what I call a sibling.  Chris’ sister, you are the coolest.  You’re also a cake-baking maven; that thing looks phenomenal!

I’d love to hear what you think of this DIY wedding!  Any details in particular that you’re coveting?  That cake has got me hook, line and sinker.  So cute!

WILL YOU MARRY ME? | the great cake lollie proposal…

Bakerella does some amazing things with a little bit of flour, sugar and some lollie sticks.  But this project takes the cake.

It goes on, as you can imagine…

But, here’s the beauty part:

And, stop right there. That’s it – that’s where I start to tear up.

Find out what prompted all of this and more, over at Bakerella.  If you have feelings, the story will touch your heart like crazy.  I tear up a bit every time I read it.  I have never met these people, and I tear up a bit.  You want to make fun of me?  Go ahead.  I may be ridiculous, but at least I have copious amounts of feelings that cannot be contained.

Happy Thursday, to all.

P.S. – Want more stuff related to engagements/proposals?  Here’s a whole category for you.  Enjoy!

Check this out on her blog, where you can purchase one that looks like this:

… though I’m sure she’d let you buy the former if you know George personally.  In fact she’d probably give it to you for free, seeing as the potential for the gift you’d be giving her is that much greater.

Wedding Photographer Spotlight | Jessica Claire Has Rocked My World… And She’ll Rock Yours. Oh Yes, Yes She Will.

There are quite a few photographers out there who rock me.  I’m talking every image, every time of day, every subject, every setting – SWISH.  Nothing but net.  Many of these artists have truly honed their talents, and that’s what keeps me so pumped up as I set out each day to find yet another wow factor wedding.  After all, when the wedding’s over, we’re left with our family, our friends and our precious photos.  Hire right, and you haven’t just bought professionalism, you’ve bought peace of mind; one of the key ingredients in the recipe for having fun on your wedding day.  Here’s one example of a photographer who will bring you all of that and more.

Now, before I was introduced to the incredible artistry of wedding photographer Jessica Claire, whose work was recently featured on Style Me Pretty, I was heading down a path of disillusionment…

Among other things, I had begun to accept that, quite possibly, there was no such thing as a good dress shot.

Maybe you know what I mean (or maybe you disagree with me, but); the photos I’ve seen of wedding gowns hanging in all of their weighty whiteness, still, straight, see-through… sad.  At least, to me.  The dress shot I so often see leaves me wanting more – like, for starters, a body inside of it to liven things up.  I’ve begun to understand the importance of the shot (I think), but the result is so often lackluster in my eyes that I was rather close to trashing the idea entirely.

Enter: Jessica Claire.  Profession: Photographer.  Noteworthy skill: pictures that’ll BLOW YOUR MIND.

Of course, when we’re dealing with a photographer THAT good, it can’t just be about a dress… oh, no.  Jessica has skills that are limitless, and it would be a shame if I featured only her ability to capture a wedding dress properly.  While that image, alone, is STUNNING, I was swept away by all of her work, and I just had to bring a handful of that perfection back here for your eyes.  This is just a taste, so I encourage you to visit her site, where she has loads more delicious eye candy, PLUS one of the coolest things a photographer can do – teach others through special posts she calls, “TOTALLY RAD! Stuff for Photographers.” Teach a man to fish.  Right on, Jessica.

Here we go… and, of course, we begin with the dress shot:

But you know it doesn’t end there.  Not at all…

I’m swooning over these colors and details:

How ’bout some lovely flower shots?  You got ‘em.

Here’s one of her Before & After back-to-back images, used to teach other photographers the tools and techniques of the trade (bravo, Jessica):

By the way, did I mention she offers a workshopSigh.  The things I would do if I lived in California.  Oh, the things I would do!

Jessica, more than your expert images, your talent has captured my heart.  Please, be careful.  It beats for you!
