FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS | May 21 | Things I ♥ = printable table numbers, cool wedding invites, headpieces, bouquets, color schemes & tablescapes!

As I write this post, I’m trying to time the exit of a huge fly with the opening of my screen door.  3 failed attempts.  Fly concussion imminent.  But it’s his fault, because he needs to give me a warning or something, instead of repeatedly popping out of the woodwork, bee-lining it and then slamming face-first into the screen, all in one fell swoop.  Each time, it’s like I never had a chance!  And I haven’t even mentioned that I was sitting in the sun during lunchtime, so my legs are hot and they’re sticking to the faux leather of my work chair each time I get up to assist the fly in his great escape.  So that hurts.

Quick Fab Find break before I continue complaining ~ this I found on one of my regular trips to check out Sarah Yates‘ work:

How much do you LOVE those bouquets?!!  How much?  Seriously, I’m asking.

By the way, I’m bumming a little bit because one of those really tiny red bugs somehow got into my iMac and has been aimlessly jetting around ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF MY SCREEN.  Apparently, there’s a space between the graphics that show up on your computer and the area where BUGS CAN WALK AROUND.  He’s existing in that purgatory, and at this very moment heading straight for where I’m typing.  It’s really weird/annoying/cool/sad.  Like Fantastic Voyage meets A Bug’s Life.  My main concern at this point is that he doesn’t drag any bug poop around the inside of my screen.  I haven’t yet had a chance to think of the long-term effects of his strolls on my eyes and temper.  This is harsh, but I hope he either finds the exit soon, or dies in one of the corners.

Moving on… I found some pretty amazing stuff recently, and I am more excited than usual to share it all with you.  But first, have you seen my Style Me Pretty guest post this week?  It’s not your typical affair, not by a long shot.  In fact, it’s kind of the cutest thing ever; the design is completely devoted to the way the groom met his bride.  It’s a BASEBALL THEME WEDDING, by Amorology!!!  Here’s one board, of many:

Adore these gilded garland table numbers, which Livy from A Field Journal created for Project Wedding.  I seriously jump a little in my seat whenever I see things like this.  Thank you, Livy!!

Obsessed with this bride and her sassypants headpiece made by Erin Cole, which and who I discovered while visiting my good friend Abby’s lovely blog, Life in the Super BurbsThis wedding has it all; beautiful people, Southern charm, exquisite lighting, amazing details and, what I consider the best part of all, it was shot by the ladies of SimplyBloom.  Which, of course, means guaranteed photo perfection.  Ok, headpiece time!

LOVE this from my girl holdin’ it down in far away Portugal… the crazy awesome Sofia of Brancoprata!

Ok, saw this loveliness on A Room Somewhere, and DIED.  (I’m such a sucker for pastel; make it pastel, and I’ll love it/befriend it/eat it/what have you.)  The photos are from a ranch wedding that took place in San Diego, and was featured on Green Wedding Shoes.

It’s no secret how much I love the Wedding Chicks and what they bring to the community every single day out here in wedding bloggerland.  No exception with this baby! I am seriously LOVING this e-session they featured; it was inspired by one of my fave animated movies, UP!

By the way, the dress is from Anthro – remember when I featured it?  Still in love.

Last but not least, via 100 Layer Cake, we have the simplest, most unique invite idea I’ve seen all week.  And it makes use of one of my dearest household items – the brown lunch bag!!!  Credits: Sideshow Press / Stitch Design Co.

By the by, the bug inside my screen is now fretting horribly, and bouncing around the bottom the way those little balls bounce on words in a song on TV so kids can follow along.  You know what I’m talking about?  He’s trying for an exit every millisecond along the bottom, and it looks exactly like he’s trying to help me sing a song with the right cadence.  Gosh this is really sad for him.  But seriously he needs to get the eff outta my screen.

Kisses!

P.S. – anyone have any interesting plans for the weekend?  I do, but they’re secret.  MUHAHHAAHAH.

REAL WEDDING ❦ Louisa + Justin ~ Bali, Indonesia ❦ Sloan Photographers

THIS WEDDING = MAXIMUM AWESOMENESS.  And, in my opinion, a hot pink/fuchsia fête has never looked so good.

Seriously, when I saw this wedding by Matt and Angie of Sloan Photographers, I wanted to do the Homer Simpson running around in a circle on the floor dance.  Because the beauty, the colors, the details… EVERYTHING about this wedding is outRAGEOUS.  It’s bursting at the seams with jaw-dropping inspiration!

PARTY PALETTE LOVE | apples, milk cartons and composition books | Guess the shower theme? *Duh*

Breaking the hell away from Easter for a second, here.  (I didn’t think it was possible to be on pastel overload.  But here we are.)

***

I discovered this totally not too cool for school baby shower over on Amy Atlas‘ blog, Sweet Designs.  The photographs are by Whitney Smith Photography.  This is so awesome, I can’t even tell you.  It was created by friends of the mother-to-be, one Mrs. Emily Moulton, and it is TOO PRECIOUS.  I’ve gotta say, I love the color scheme most of all.  And it’s the first (and last) time I’m gonna say that I am loving me some Diet Coke cans right now!

In Amy’s words:

“The shower included lots of cute details including a chalkboard menu, lunch-sack sandwiches, cafeteria lunch trays, a composition guest book, milk and cookies, and pb&j bars. Whitney and Britney even arranged for Mrs. Moulton’s students to write advice for the mom-to-be {such a cute idea!}”

Those look exactly like the Mrs. Fields cookies I used to love in high school.  Brings me back.  To eating too many Mrs. Fields cookies at lunchtime.

Just a couple more good reasons why it’s smart to stock up on cute ceramic cake stands.

Little brown paper lunch bags are my FAVORITE thing.

Ok, coming up next, a post about my childhood, complete with pictures.  And that pastel thing I worked to avoid here will return IN FULL FORCE.  I just needed to detox for a little bit.  Alright, talk to you soon!

xoxo, Alison

I LOVE MY CERAMIC EGG CRATES | Easter Finds @ Williams-Sonoma

I bought my ceramic six-slot egg crates at Williams-Sonoma this past weekend on a mall excursion with the fiancé.  Here’s one of them.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  I mean, for an egg crate?  THANK YOU, Williams-Sonoma, for having this in your store and selling it for $5.00. Sweet Lord that was a find and a half.

Plans for them: use as props in future inspiration shoots.
Current use: place the two eggs I cook every morning in one of the crates, for safe keeping while the butter melts.

I’ve got more Easter Finds in store for ya, m’friends!  Sit tight…

{ DESSERT + FAVOR LOVE } Vintage Design Cake Boxes, Cupcake Wrappers and Cones!

Morning, everyone!  Just yesterday, I received in the mail my beloved Cox & Cox catalog.  As per usual, it’s filled to the brim with the most delightful details one could ask for in a wedding and, as per usual, it’s got me all hot and bothered.  Peculiar how pretty little tchotchkes can do that to a girl.  Anyway, gotta share some of the new swag to be had (plus a few oldies for good measure):

Vintage Design Cake Boxes – NEW!

Rose Cupcake Wrappers – NEW!

Vintage Design Cones – NEW!

Cupcake Stand – NOT NEW, BUT STILL!

Organza Favor Bags – NOT NEW AS WELL!

(Like these?  Well, using StazOn ink and other materials similar to those in this post on DIY Wedding Eye Candy, I created the CUTEST stamped bags to house some chocolate lollipops I made for Christmas last year.  I wish I had a picture of them to show you!  They were too cute, if I do say so myself.  It’s really so easy – I highly recommend making them yourself!)

Seed Favors Set – ALSO NOT NEW, BUT YES, PLEASE!

Credit: Cox & Cox

Here’s a fun little aside: when I right-clicked on the word “tchotchkes” (top of post) just to check if I spelled it correctly, the dictionary offered up these suggestions:

  1. latchkeys
  2. hopscotches
  3. crotchless and
  4. hotcakes

Weird to the max.  My dictionary is advising me to write crotchless.  Anyway.

I adore these little subway maps she pasted inside of her wedding shoes!!!

From the couples’ photographer, Caroline Tran: “Jen lived in LA & Kevin in NY.  They spent most of their relationship apart, so a travel themed engagement session & wedding was fitting.  Since Kevin is a pilot and they spent most of their relationship traveling to see each other, they wanted to incorporate their travels & the different destinations into their wedding.”

Get a load of these boutonnieres!  Precious!!

Go to Caroline Tran‘s blog for more details!  The link will take you right to this wedding. :)

How great are these record table namers?  Such a rockin’ idea for a music-themed wedding.

WEDDING INSPIRATION, IN THE ROUND | ~ balloons and bubblegum ~ | Perfect Ways to Make Your Pictures POP!

We all want our weddings to be great, and this can mean many things to many people.  It all depends on who you ask.  It can mean keeping with tradition.  It can mean standing out from the rest.  It can mean showing our personalities, and our uniqueness, both as individuals and as a couple.  However, regardless of how it’s defined, one thing’s for sure – we all want that extra special thing, whatever it may be, so that everyone who has come to celebrate this momentous occasion in our lives will remember it always, as our wedding.

So, how about balloons? :) Hehe.

By the way, remember this post?  Truly one of the more awesome balloon shoots I’ve had the pleasure of seeing…

Totally worth a look-see.

Ok, so clearly those are engagement shots – and while brilliant shots, they aren’t weddings.  So here’s an actual wedding with the balloon idea implemented.  I LOVE how the crisp, white spheres line both sides of the aisle, adding such incredible structure to the photos.  There’s an intensity here, with the focus so clearly on the marrying couple… and it’s very much a result of the double row of balloons, which serve to guide your eyes towards the center.  It’s clean, it’s powerful, and it’s beautiful.

Sticking with the white wedding theme, howsabout this…

Here are a few more of my favorite engagement shots.  Don’t you love the creativity of these couples?  A prop like this can really ease out the playfulness that is so essential with engagement shoots.  The Bubblicious is your call.  If you teach for a living, I imagine it’s not for you.  (In fact, if you’re anything like the teachers I had in grade school, you’re probably aching for these girls to trash the chewing gum posthaste.)

Though, I must say, these two young ladies pull it off quite nicely…

One last thing: I caught wind of The Cherry Blossom Girl on a visit to decor8 one day, and found this precious little balloon brooch, by Stolen Thunder.  If you really love balloons – like, REALLY – but don’t know if they fit in all that smoothly with the rest of your decor, well then here’s a darling way to show your affection for the them.  If it’s not the right fit for your look that day, then it could be the perfect bridesmaids’ gift, no?  I admit, I think it’s just too cute not to make up an excuse to buy a few of ‘em.  So that’s kind of what I’m doing right now. :)

VALENTINE’S DAY INSPIRED GOODNESS | couldn’t help myself! | A LOT More Treats in Time for Sunday (Sort of…)

Gotta start off with this little gem from Paper Pastries

Aaaand these little gems, too, ‘cuz they’re adorable and I need to get it out of my system…

I like that one ‘cuz that’s where I am. :)

I realize V-Day’s, like, a second away, and you can’t exactly get them in time for the Day of Cuddles, but I just HAD to show you those – I hope you understand.  They’re too precious for words.  Okay, now we move to desserts… these you can still whip up in time!

Oooohhh yeeeaaahhh.  That’s right.  Bakerella is all over this holiday.

So, remember that paper straw post from not too long ago?  Well, here’s something straw-related that I think I love even more than everything in that post, PUT TOGETHER.

I found this “Sweet straws craft project” from Papermash via Two Brunettes and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys.  So cute!  Love these, too – also from Papermash:

PS I love you card + I love lists notebook (I do, I just love ‘em.)

Vintage Valentine Cookies, from Bakerella:

FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS + VALENTINE’S DAY INSPIRED GOODNESS | Free Printables, Love Postage, Lollies, a Lightbulb Valentine and More…

Let’s start with something sweet, sparkly and bright ~ Valentine Lollies from Sweet Paul!

I found out about this project, created by Danni Hong of Oh, Hello Friend, from Ellie at Mint and immediately fell in love with its pretty, pretty, prettiness.

If you’d like to try it yourself, just head over to Mint and download Danni’s printable PDF’s.

By the way, here’s what you’ll need for the project, as outlined by Ellie:

- Clear votive holders (michaels: $1)
- Tealight candles
- Modge Podge
- Brush for glue
- Lace doilies
- Small box of matches
- Various sheets of patterned paper
- Ribbon/twine
- Printable PDF tags

If you’re a fiend for projects and printables today, how about some love note candy wrappers?  These pastel printable delights – made especially for Valentine’s Day – were created by who else but one of my idols, Ez (of Creature Comforts) and her amazing partner, Marichelle, both of the super cute online shop, Nice Package.  I love them!!!

This is what the printable PDF looks like; click here to visit Nice Package for the download!

By the way, I caught a glimpse of these lovely postage stamps on Paper Pastries and fell madly for them.

I’ve seen most of these from afar, on wedding invitations and the like, but I’ve never actually seen them all together like this, and they officially need to be in my life.

I don’t even necessarily need a letter, I just want these stamps; somebody, please, get me these stamps.

I really got a kick out of seeing this super cute light bulb Valentine idea Arwen O’Reilly Griffith from Craft found over at Design*Sponge!  How absolutely perfect is this, especially for maybe the handyman in your life?  (Assuming that your significant other is the handyman.  It might be awkward to gift this to your hired handyman, though I’m certain he’d appreciate it.)

If you’re serious about this project, it’s a pretty comprehensive tutorial; down to instructions on hollowing out a lightbulb… so, since I know nothing about that, visit Arwen’s post or get thee to Design*Sponge to begin turning old crap into new sap!  (You know, ‘sap,’ as in sappiness… as in the essence of V-Day… maybe I’m just cracking myself up here.)

Another cute thing, followed by another craft thing, then I’m done, I PROMISE (for now, at least… and I crossed my fingers anyway so whatev); how cute are these Kraft Address Labels from Paper Pastries?

LOVE.

I think this is great, so I thought I’d share it with all of you in case anyone’s looking to deliver a tiny little gift in a super cute way:

It’s called a “jar of hearts” and it’s by Jessica Wilson.  Click here for the how-to!  I found it over at CRAFT, a great place for, well, crafting. :)

~~~               ~~~               ~~~
Okay my dear, dear friends… I think that’s quite enough for now.  It’s just that I found SO MUCH amazing stuff and, well, my world is one of all or nothing/go big or go home… which translates into bringing back everything I love, with nary an exception.  Time-consuming for me, pretty good deal for you, eh?  ;)
With that said, I’m going to return to enjoying the heck out of my new haircut.  I feel like a brand new woman!  Haircuts: highly recommended.  Lots of love to everyone!  I hope your weekends are warm and fuzzy.
DIY WEDDING IDEAS | inspiration… from scratch | Escort Table Numbers Good Enough to Eat!
So, I was thinking… and it led to an idea (hoorah!).  How about edible escort card numbers?
I saw these terrific 0-9 number cookie cutters at my new favorite shop Cox & Cox (I swear, they’re not a sponsor…), and thought – how wonderful would it be to put these baked numbers inside of favor boxes for your guests?  Not only would they guide them safely to their tables, but your guests would have a nice snack along the way!
The only issue concerning edible escort numbers: they might… okay, they will get a little stale if you bake them way in advance of your wedding day.  So here’s a tip: ask one of your bridesmaids if she’d be so kind as to bake them for you.  (Sorry, bridesmaids… I might have just added another task to your long and winding road of a list.  Forgive me!)
SWEET HEARTS | valentine’s day inspired goodness | I’ll Take Two, Please!
When I saw these on my google reader, I flipped…
I found out about these darling bits of sweetness from Two Brunettes, and I’m telling you, the find absolutely made my day!  They’re quite the perfect touch for a wedding ’round this time of year, wouldn’t you say?  You can get them for yourself over at Cox & Cox, and the only thing stopping me from placing an order on the double is a crippling lack of knowledge about the shelf life of sugar cubes.  (Will they still look like that in 5 months?  I’m not well versed in sugar cubes, I’m a sugar packet girl.  This is the same kind of feeling that’s kept my hand paralyzed, with the mouse hovering over the checkout button on the sparklers order…)
By the way, love and want this stuff too:
Feather angel wings for the flower girl(s)!
Name place baubles:
Floral heart pegs!!! The possibilities are endless with these!
Heart sparklers!
FOOD & DRINK | wedding inspiration | Striped Paper Straws Are So Cute, Especially Inside of Specialty Soda Pop!
So, as usual, I was looking for more really cute, chic details for my upcoming nuptials, and I think I’ve found yet another one worth sharing.
Striped paper straws.  A crowd favorite, dating all the way back to childhood.  I can’t be the only one who blew bubbles in my chocolate milk when a wee babe.  I’m totally invested (mentally, we’ll see about budget-ly) in these cutie-patooties.
I found those super cute ones above over at Design is Mine, and I didn’t just get excited, I pretty much flipped out.  After this long, it still amazes me how aggressively the adrenaline within me can race throughout my body the moment I see something as insignificant as a paper straw.  I think it has something to do with all the colors and choices.  If there’s one thing I love, it is having options.  (They are also my downfall; I am indecisive as a rule.  But we all love the things that are not the best for us, so I’d say that makes me normal.  At least… that’s what I tell myself when I go to bed at night.)  Anyway, I choose not to question it.  Especially since, when I go with it, I always end up in my happy place!
It might interest you to know that the person responsible for the photographic bliss above is food/prop stylist Paul Lowe, and it might interest you even more to know that he has an incredibly addictive blog, called Sweet Paul.  Oh, how I heart him.
***
Okay, so we’ve established one fact so far: paper straws rule.  Especially colorful, striped ones.  But now we need something deserving of said straws, right?  How about THIS…
Want to get your hands on some colorful pop for your big day?  Project Wedding – which is where I found the awesomeness immediately above – suggests BevMo.  Located in CA, they’ve got a wide selection of these super cute specialty sodas (and if you don’t live in CA, you can buy ‘em online – gotta love the internet).  You can also check in your local gourmet food shop for these uniquely joyful-looking drinks.  So, they’re around!  You just may have to do a little searching depending on where you’re located.  :)
***
Next are some awesome pics by Cindy Ensley, which I discovered via the lovely Audrey of Urbanic + Parcel Post.  (My original description of Audrey involved “the pretty paper pusher,” but I thought it made her sound like some sort of fetish drug dealer, which seemed like a bad thing.  So “the lovely” it is.  And lovely, you are, Audrey!)
I know, SO cute.  Word on the ‘net is that you can find these babies over at Kikkerland.  It’s a great source for stuff like this; I visit the place quite a bit.  Not to mention, pretty much everyone I credited within this here post suggests the same.  Aside from Kikkerland, you can check out Pipii’s Marketplace, which carries the exact same brand.
In other news, check out Cindy’s save the dates -
Absolutely darling, wouldn’t you agree?  And totally DIY-licious.  You’ll probably be familiar with her supplies -  she used one of Martha’s punch sets, kraft paper (you already know the feelings I have for kraft paper), some AWESOME rubber stamps and white embossing powder.  See, all it takes are a few simple tools, and a lot of imagination and creativity!
Okay, just one more pretty picture of my new love:
Found these cherry red beauties over on Jordan Ferney’s Oh Happy Day! I’m sure you could figure out a way to work those stunners into a Valentine’s Day party, or even better, a love-themed wedding.  Though that’s what all weddings should be themed. Oh sappy me; that’s just how I like to end things.  On a sap note!
Seacrest out.
WEDDING THEME IDEAS | in the spirit of the superbowl (stay with me)…
In honor of the Superbowl (currently playing on our flat screen as I begin writing, which should reveal my level of interest), I thought I’d throw a few ideas on a theme your way…
(That was the tamest image I could find by googling the words “football” and “woman.”  Don’t even try it with “girl.”  *Sigh.*)
.
Okay, first, you’ll need to answer a few quick questions to determine if this post is really for you.  Here we go:
Does your man love the football?  Are you planning your wedding?  If that’s two affirmatives, then I have a three-part question for you; answer ‘Yes’ to any of these three parts, and you might love this post…
Do you love football, too / Are you just looking for any stunt that’ll get your man more interested and involved in the wedding planning / Are you having a really, really laid back celebration?  If there’s a yes in there somewhere, then it’s quite possible that this post is tailor-made for you!
***
To start, there’s your football-themed wedding cake topper.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Want it?  Find it here.  For other cake topper ideas – much less kitschy, much more cutesy – take a look at one of my most popular posts thus far, FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS | lovely + fun cake toppers | Wow, I Actually LIKE These…
Moving right along… let’s talk food.  (Yay!)  One thing I can get behind, no matter what, is a good ol’ fashioned pig-in-a-blanket (err, mini hot dog – same difference).  I apologize to the sticklers out there, really, I’m sorry, but I’m so a fan of this tastiest of finger foods.  And just look at this arrangement we have below!  Three de-freakin’-licious looking appetizer suggestions, plus one questionable but most likely thirst-quenching boozy drink idea (beer margaritas?  I was thinking the same thing), all geared towards a fantastic Superbowl get-together.  So, why not your wedding, too?
I found the above over at the always inspiring Hostess with the Mostess, who credits them to Everyday at Rachael Ray.
Offer those mouth-watering comfort foods, not to mention the booze, during your cocktail hour, and your friends and relatives will thank you for inviting them to your wedding and mean it.  Not to mention the effect it could have on all of the men who got dragged along by your currently single girlfriends or cousins (men who don’t yet know how cool you and your hubby-to-be are).  You can imagine how pleasantly surprised said bachelors will be when they realize the sheer amount of joy a man can experience… at a wedding.  Women everywhere will thank you, for doing your part, however unwittingly, to make at least one man out there a little bit more comfortable with the idea of getting married.  WOW what a tangent.
***
Next up: DESSERT.
Want to sink your teeth into those tantalizing treats?  The spirited cuppies were created for Celebrations by Jeanne Benedict, and featured on Hostess with the Mostess.
Oh how sweet it is.  You know what’s great about dessert?  I mean besides everything?  When it comes to football-themed-wedding-appropriate dessert, the only thing footbally about it will be the appearance.  Oh yes, it may look like a football, but that cupcake is not going to taste like a football.  It’s going to taste like a moist, sugary, delicious cupcake.  And it will be AWESOME.
So, what the heck.  I can support this.  :)
JUST PEACHY | wedding photos ripe with color + inspiration ~ in the key of peach | This is Kind of My Perfect Wedding Palette!
My fiancé loves peaches.  Really, really loves them.  Not alone, oddly, but inside of things.  Like, inside of my peach and blueberry pie, for instance.  I don’t blame him… the pie is delicious.  I would go on about the pie and how much he loves it, but I risk getting mired in an unsavory realm of double entendre here, so I’ll just leave it at that.
When I came across these photos within the post Peach Wedding Ideas on Once Wed, I was struck by two pretty wonderful things.
The first was that my fiancé loves peaches (in his own weird way but still…) and the second, well the second was that I LOVE THESE COLORS.
A girl (like me) constantly dreams of developing or discovering the perfect theme or idea that meets two very important criteria: loveliness, and a reflection of our likes and personalities.
Jackpot?  Wedding theme chosen?  We’ll see.  I do ADORE the florals, and dig the idea of somehow bringing peaches into the mix, since I’m all about infusing natural elements into a wedding.  So I’m definitely a fan of what’s going on here.
Alas, I am fickle.  I’m really quite the indecisive young lady, with far too much inspiration at and oozing out of my fingertips.  (Eww.)  So I’ll just keep on looking, and keep on bringing it back here.  Because, you know what?  I love being overwhelmed.  Yeah, I THRIVE on the feeling.
Jeez Louise, look at this CAKE.  It. Is. PERFECT.  Kind of reminds me of this cake, from one of my favorite weddings EVA.
FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS { Part III } | California dreaming | Wedding Cakes, Wedding Kisses & the Chance to Win a Dream Photo Session!
This next set of photos have a certain special thing in common, that is, aside from being taken in California.  Each of them… well, can you guess?
These amazing engagement shots, taken on the beach in Santa Monica, are by California photographer Caroline Tran, and they are treasures.
I’m not much of a fan of the “all kissing, all the time” engagement shoots.  They can easily turn into too much of a good thing; the beauty of such intimacy can be lost with repetition.  But that’s not what’s happened here.
It’s subtle.  It’s soft.  It’s not in your face.  It’s totally beautiful.
I must add, too, that I’m a big fan of a color – or in this case, shade – coordinated couple.  Because two really poorly matched outfits can seriously ruin an entire shoot.
Oh, and by the way… how about a chance to win your own dream shoot?
One lucky couple – engaged or married, either one – will win this amazing session.  It’s an unbelievable opportunity to be photographed by Caroline Tran and stylized by Green Wedding Shoes!
Hurry!  Submissions are due by this Sunday, January 31.
FRIDAY’S FAB FINDS { Part II } | California on my mind | Sarah Yates Photography: Engagement & Wedding Photos with That California Glow + More Edible Goodness…
I adore nearly all things California, I think it’s obvious by now.  (A failing economy, fires and one movie star governor are behind the “nearly.”)  With so many awe-inspiring bits of photographic beauty emerging from the oblong state on the western edge of our country, it’s hard not to fall deeply and hopelessly in love with its warm sunny glow.  And what Sarah Yates produces is no exception…
Like Monique is one of the Queens of Comedy, Sarah Yates is – in my humble opinion, one of the Queens of Engagement & Wedding Photography.  And  her attractive and endearing subjects don’t hurt, either.  This brings me to another thing I love about California.  (Resisting the urge to write “Cali” at every turn here, people.  It’s rough going.)
I cherish people who wear color.  They are the few, the fiery, the walking embodiment of joy.  Wearing color can brighten your day, and it can have that same effect on those around you.  I always feel a special something different when I wear color, and whatever that is, it feels good, every time.  So, if you’re up to it, I suggest adding a splash of color to your typical look if you don’t already… it’s fun, and that’s what life’s about, please don’t forget that!
WEDDING PHOTO LOVE | real wedding ~ CA { Part II } | Steve and Kelly, LA Backyard Wedding by Sarah Yates
The Backyard LA Wedding of Steve and Kelly, photographed by Sarah Yates, continued…
I know.  This wedding is the definition of dreamy.  If you were to look up “dreamy” in the dictionary… you know the rest.
Kelly’s whole bridal look… her hair, her makeup, her gown… all of it, perfection…
Absolutely breathtaking.  A contender for the cover of a high society romance novel.
Doesn’t she look like one of the happiest brides around?  Surrounded by her maids, she shines.  Though, that tends to happen with pea soup green bridesmaids dresses.  Still, Kelly’s beauty is unparalleled.
WEDDING PHOTO LOVE | real wedding ~ CA { Part I } | Steve and Kelly, LA Backyard Wedding by Sarah Yates
On a visit to A Cup of Joe, I discovered a path to one of the prettiest weddings currently floating around in the ether, and featured on Once Wed.  Sarah Yates, the amazing photographer tasked with capturing this wedding – whose out-of-this-world talent makes my jaw drop repeatedly with every additional wedding she posts – features these stunning shots on her blog, Sarah Yates Photography.  If you’d like to see more, you can go directly to Steve and Kelly’s wedding.  Now, for the little bit of loveliness I’ve plucked…
These photographs of a couple in love are among my favorite this month.  Their bond, the natural surroundings, everything is beaming the warm glow of happiness.
How darling is this one of the couple sitting close together in the lower left corner of the image.  That red boutonnière makes the shot, doesn’t it?  A pinch of color can go so far.
I am in lust with the colors of this wedding.  The decor is unbelievable.  And those CENTERPIECES!  I am floored by the lovely and loud floral arrangements contained in those vases.  The colors, the choices of flowers, the overall shape, the simplicity.  I adore the work done here.
SPEAKING OF WEDDING INSPIRATION { + DIY LOVE }… | gold, blue and creamy beige | Choose These Colors for Your Wedding, and You Won’t Be Sorry…
I left a teaser in my first post of the day… sorry about that, but it wasn’t to mess with you!  I just couldn’t keep adding more goodness to it, when the goodness I wanted to add deserved its OWN feature!  You understand, right?  Hopefully I’ll be able to make amends with all that follows…
Here’s some of the most lovely wedding inspiration I’ve ever seen.  In my life.  And I’m in my mid-20′s.
… Plus a year or two.
***
We begin with a rather exquisite invitation suite…
A few ribbons of seating cards, hung from gilded branches…
A cake into which I wouldn’t want to have to be the first to cut…
A lovely altar, above which hangs the couple’s monogram…
Another cake, same story as above…
And some gold and aqua jewelry.  Not too shabby.
Lovely stuff, am I right?  I found it over at Martha Stewart Weddings, of course.  Specifically, “The Golden Touch” gallery.
And this lil stinker, also from our beloved Martha
… Was the inspiration OrangeBeautiful needed to create this incredible bridal shower for her lovely sis, Kristen…
What a neat looking game, don’t you think?  OrangeBeautiful’s bridal shower fun was inspired by this cool creation:
If you’re interested in trying your hand at a personalized version of this adorable game & pencil set, she discovered it here, at Made Sweet.
If you’d like to see some more DIY projects that are heavy on the gold (tastefully, of course)…
Here’s a post that’ll answer your prayers.  (Man, I’m real heavy on the Martha today, huh.  But really, who can blame me?  Stop producing quality wedding product, Martha.  It’s too inspiring.)
